    Calling in sick?

So I'm a foods associate's for this theme park. season is about to end soon so it doesn't matter.

I've never sick called and had nearly a PERFECT attendance since hired.

My hours were cut so I was only given Mon, Tues, Wed to work and Thurs ,Fri,Sat,Sun. off. I also traded shifts with another associate that I work on Saturday and gave him my off day. What I didn't know was that when I talked to my supervisors and higher management ( someone who was higher than a supervisor who usually approves these requests ), they told me somewhat nothing about my approval for my shift day request. I had already scheduled plans because knowing it wasn't approved and then finally realizing that it was approved, I figured i'll sick call in. So what I did one hour before my shift, I called in sick because I was actually sick ( diarrhea or salmonella or whatever from eating uncooked chicken breasts ). That day I called in sick, I went in to the park as a guest with a few friends and co-workers.

Would I even be terminated for this? It sounds like i'm abusing the sick call system but if I came in sick and threw up everywhere and still wanted to go in the park as a guest, why not??

I wonder if it would be okay if I called and ask if I was terminated haha.

Instead of staying home, can't a sick man come in to a work area ( say you worked at frys electronics and called in sick ) and walked around shopping and your associate's / supervisors catches you in the store when you should be working?

    Calling in sick?

I think that's a pretty stupid thing to do, calling in sick then going to the place where you work? that's like calling in sick at school/college and going in and chatting with your friends at lunch, honestly if they saw you i wouldn't be surprised if you lost your job.

    Calling in sick?

First of all did you get seen in the park by your superiors?

Second, you never want to get caught abusing days off. It makes you look shady and if your looking to get re-hired for the next season, they might look at that and think twice.

Third, If your sick the reason your calling in is because you CANT work, and if you can go there and do the same things as anyone can do then your not really sick.

and since its the end of the season i doubt they will just let you go. Just think twice before you pull something like that again :)

    Calling in sick?

    Yeah

It's not really abusing a day off because originally, I had a day off and switched it and never knew it was approved or not. I just called it in just encase whether or not I was working or not because I didn't know. I would still be "OK" to work but either way, they won't be happy about me using a restroom break every 20 minutes and not knowing that my restroom break consists of 10-15 minutes.

Either way, i'm sure they will understand that it was my first sick call and didn't know you weren't "allowed" to enter the park as a guest while being sick.

So If I was say " terminiated or fired", I would have to put up a reason for jobs to see and then I would put " for calling in sick " and they would be like wtf?

Yes you could be fired, but you have a good reason.

    Calling in sick?

The thing the manager/supervisor would probably say is that if your well enough to go to a theme park then your not that ill. I think it is a little ridiculous... If you were that ill you should of been in a bed/taking it easy.

    Calling in sick?

I had the stomach ache / diarrhea which doesn't affect my performance at work at all. But I did not want to put up with holding in my "PISS" or "STOOL".At work, they MAKe you hold it if nobody could take you out of position.

Meh, if I was "VERY" ill, i'll probably be on league of legends or on the computer.

I find that going to a theme park which relaxes me and help ease my sickness due to company around me rather than being in bed sleeping or something.

I have work tomorrow so i'll find out if i'm terminated or not.

    Calling in sick?

If you are sick do not go to the place of work as a guest. That's my advice.
