Launching a website soon, thoughts?

Long time no visit, Sythe.org, and I wish it wasn't that way. I can't articulate how busy I've been this summer, graduated one college and I'm off to another on Thursday.


I've been putting together this site www.DormSetup.com with a couple friends of mine, and I know it still needs a ton of work (to say the least) but check it out and let me know your first thoughts and exactly what I can improve upon.

This isn't shameless advertising, I genuinely need your critiques, so let me know guys.

Hey,
I just took a glance at your site.
I'd remove the google site "g" as the little icon that shows on the tab and replace it with something more customized, that way people don't think youre amateurs.

I'd make all the ads images; the list ones look cheap and you never see them on nice sites.

I like the web 2.0 look but with the type on the seemingly invisible white background something seems to be throwing me off. I'd add more distinctive borders.

fyi i've advised professionals on designing high profile websites like lawyer.com successfully, but i am no expert nor artist so take what i say with moderation haha

No man I definitely appreciate your input and I'll take it all into consideration.

The icon image shouldn't have been the Google "G", I made one, and it shows up for me.

I'll work on the Logo tomorrow, check back later in the day and let me know your thoughts.

 

Really informative website. Which college did you attend?

 

I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from a small community college in May, and I'm going to Buffalo State College in New York on Thursday for Business Administration.

Yeah I think the google "g" was just a glitch as it went away the second time I visited. I'll keep checking by the site as you update it.

 

Not liking the logo for the site, and the theme's a bit eh. Other than that adding more categories and posts should make it into a pretty useful site with time
