    Can Jagex sue botters?

Can Jagex honestly sue over botting? I got an email a while back on one of my accounts. If they arent going to do anything then I'd like to bot. Otherwise.. If you think it'd just be dumb and i shouldnt chance it then i won't. Basically before i would bot.. i want to ensure nothing would happen and if something DID happen.. It would only be account related. Anyone know or could give some feedback/explain?

If it was a "[email protected]" email or anything similar it was a hoax and a keylogger, look out they look very legit and have been being passed around for "botting offenses" and "rwt offenses" jagex will NOT by any means email you they would send a message via your player inbox or not at all and just mute/wipe (albeit rare)/ban (also rare) the account and you would have to go out of your way to discuss it .

Depends, If they know for a fact and can prove you are using the bot's to goldfarm and make money off their game there can be an issue ONLY if you live in England though. Well, until they move into another country as well that is. There was an article I read once about some guy that was phising accounts and got sued for it by Jagex. Not sure if it was just some spoof or what but sounded about right.

Well if you don't live in England they can't sue...

I don't think they're going to waste ~$3k to go to the USA and try to sue you for botting.

Another question would be.. does getting that message by them mean that my account is at more of a risk to get banned? Are they more apt to look into my account?

Yeah never heard of botters being sued.
If you do read the Fine Print on the botting program you use there is a lot of legal notices on there, but as for suing the person using the program? No, They can't/won't.

    Can Jagex sue botters?

I mean if you got an ingame message saying it, it just seems a little strange.
Why would they message you saying "Hey BRO YOU BREAK RULES, SO IMA SUE YOU."
When instead they can simply say "Oh hiya you botting bro? BANNED. Umad?"
(this is how jagex sounds, trust me)

Just seems strange, but if they did I would would probably slow down on the botting. Maybe even take a break for a little bit. I have never heard this happening to anyone... So I can only help so much. Sorry

    Can Jagex sue botters?

Actually they can sue you. They even have a case in a US court called something like 'Jagex v John Does'.

Basically when Jagex released the bot nuke they sent out emails warning botters that if they were caught again they would be included in this case and I believe you can face a fine up to $2500.

But nothing has be done with this case. Its basically just sitting there and now its being used in these fake emails as well.

"If you ignore our offer and instead continue to use botting software, we reserve our rights to pursue statutory damages against you for between $200 to $2,500 per act of past, present, and/or future botting," - Quote from email Jagex sent after bot nuke.

The email you got is fake. I have received it too. But the court case is not.

    Can Jagex sue botters?

When Jagex got the PayPal records of iBot (rsbots.net) when they did the first bot nuke, whatever email associations or account associations they had for Who used the software & who has accounts on RS they sent out an "amnesty" email.

Pretty much stating is you have 1 more chance; Play the game for what it is or if you continue to bot/cheat you will become a defendant in 'Jagex vs John Does' case and that could turn out very, very bad.

Don’t worry about it when Jagex says there going to sue some small fish like us, they are BLUFFING. They can’t just gather up every botter and sue them as a whole. They would be in that court room for years on end listening to every one of our bs storys about how they were hacked or there cat was the one botting ect. They would lose millions in lawyer fees before they got through 1% of us.

Jagex might like to pretend they are the law but they are far from it.

Every game has bots and no individual has been sued.
