He can't get a heart transplant because he's autistic really?

I signed this petition just because after reading this its just a horrible way to be denied surgery. I'd like to see what this community thinks of it. And if you agree sign!

 

We all know that it is wrong to deny anyone of anything that would save their life, and I am sure that this was a controversial decision for the Transplant Committee but they're only so many hearts and they're specific criterion to get one. Transplanting is a business about discriminating. Not to sound indifferent to the cause or anything but those are the facts. Smokers don't get hearts, a lot of old people don't get hearts, many people don't get hearts for a lot of reasons.

 

Disgusting.

I've heard about people being denied transplants before, but those were alcoholics or whatever being denied a liver. (Replace alcoholic/liver with other organs and conditions you're personally responsible for.)

I'm a smoker myself, and if I ever got lung cancer, I'd accept it if I got denied.

Apart from being autistic, which he can't do anything about, this person is perfectly healthy...

 

I support their decision.

Call me what you want.. BUT they're doing the 'right' thing..

A normal person might need it, but if an autistic person got the heart... The normal person can do a lot more for society and everything, and therefore deserves it more. America being greedy would probably say whoever pays most...

This is rational.. the autistic person deserves it, but a normal person deserves it more as they aren't "dead weight" to society

 

Organs are in limited supply; as such, these issues need to be carefully prioritized. I'm not going to second guess his doctor's decision considering the danger posed by his mental problems.
