    I failed summer school...

Hey guys, I don't post that often anymore. But I just found out I failed summer school. Grade 10 Science, and I've failed that class 3 times, now this is the 4th time(in summer school). I've done it literally for 4 times now, and I just can't do it anymore. I'm in Grade 12, going into Grade 13 if I'm going back next year. I have 20 credits, and I need 10 credits to graduate(usually 1 credit to each class). I'm contemplating if I should even go back, cause it's gotten soo pointless. I have ADD/ADHD that my ADHD clinic won't prescribe any meds like ritalin, adderol, any amphetamines, et cetera. But I don't have much of a choice anymore, what should I do? Last school year, I only got "1" and I mean "ONE" credit out of 10 classes, although I dropped out in the middle of second semester realizing there was no point if I'm going to fail those classes as well. So, I don't know what to do anymore. It's either go back to school and fail again or would you like fries with that? @McDicks.

Get some weed, smoke it up. It helps to relax, and essays and such always turn out better. Just make sure you make some adjustments when you're not high, cause it never turns out perfect.

    I wouldn't suggest taking drugs.

If you've failed 3 times it's not for you, try something else. Look at alternatives.
I'm unsure as to what credits are though i'm afraid.

I've been smoking weed everyday during the summer. But it's about Science and Math, I passed English anyways. But listen, I'm just about done with academic courses...

Sorry to here that :/ I would suggest continuing to go to school, even though you might not pass the classes it's good to have the social aspect of school.

"If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." -Michael Jordan

A great quote by a very successful man, it's true everyone will have their roadblocks but there is usually always a way around them. Also people will always fail or make mistakes at certain things but that's what makes us human and we can always learn from our failures.

Would love to hear feedback on what you decide, and good luck in life. I hope this provides some inspiration, and motivates you to continue your education.

I know taking drugs isn't the case, however if I have ritalin(I've done it before), or adderol or some amphetamine to help me in school. I will go to school, but otherwise no, it's not going to work out for me. Alright, in my school division, you need 30 credits to graduate. Some classes have half credits(like the ones that aren't really important), and whole 1 credit classes which are kind of important and important.

The only way I could possibly pass Grade 10 Science is that a teacher would pity pass me. Which doesn't happen too often, however only cool teachers do that. Also, thanks for the inspiration, I think I'm going to find a job, and travel places.

It's kind of hard getting to places like those, I live in Canada. I was thinking about traveling to America, Cali, Oregon, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, and few other states. Anyways, I need a job, and I'm job hunting now.

If you can't pass academic science why not just drop down to applied? (Assuming your school works the same as mine did which it seems). Beats dropping out anyway.. Grade 10 applied science is easy.

Have you ever thought about talking to a counselor about alternative programs?

I was in similar situations and I qualified to be transferred to an alternative program at the DAEP campus for my last two years of high-school and it was all self-paced, on the computer, and I went to school at 8 AM and got out at 11:55 AM, every day. Oh, and I ended up graduating before my entire class.

You're going to learn you don't need wacky pills to control your attention, also.

It's a bit different here, Grade 10 Science is Grade 10 Science, you learn a bit of everything, Chemistry, Physics, and Ecology. However, I can't pass them, and that's why I failed. By the way, I'm from Winnipeg. Edit: After Grade 10 Science, it's optional for you to take Physics, Chemistry and Geology or whatever...

I tried talking to my guidance counselor about the focus classes for my Science class. She told me to go see my Vice Principle, and so I did. I talked to my Vice Principle, and he just didn't care at all, same with the main focus teacher teaching. But anyways, it's all down hill from now...

Well, here's one thing I learned: No one gets a free ticket. The whole "I can't pay attention help me" excuse doesn't get you too far and doesn't hold much water for any sort of persuasion.

Personally, I was transferred not only because of my school-life but also my home life at the time. I don't know how things are at your house, but if you're actually wanting to succeed and make it through high-school, then hell, just exaggerate a little bit.

I am being honest when I say "I can't pay attention", I literally pay attention for less than 5 minutes and I think about something else totally unrelated. When I get out of class, I don't remember what I even thought about. I'm being completely serious, I literally doze off somewhere else.

Of course I want to make it through High School, but honestly it's harder than normal for me. I have a serious interest in computers and hardware, but I need to get a certificate so I can work in those fields.

No, I completely understand. I felt the same way, trust me. I'm just saying as you progress you're going to gain a lot more self control and you'll be able to channel your focus better. No one else will help you, so you have to help yourself.

I would strongly suggest you wrote a letter to your vice principal (Or better yet, your head principal).

I have done Ritalin before, it helped me focus a lot more. But here's the problem, the only ADHD clinic in my city won't help me. Street prices for Ritalin are fucking "ABSURD", $90 for a pill. Edit: Oh shit, I forgot to address your focusing part on your post. About my focusing, I've had focusing problems since Grade 7 and maybe before that, I don't remember. So it's left untreated now, and nothing I can do about it. But trying to control it is hard, when I try to, I just doze off again, it somehow happens.

My head/vice are cool principles and all, but honestly I think they have better things to do than care about me. My vice would've cared at the most crucial time when I asked him for help, but he didn't do anything at all. My head principle is "THE" and I mean "THE" coolest principle of all time, trust me. But I'm not an nuisance, or don't want to be to him. He's enjoying his summer, so let him be. It's time to get a job at McDicks, so FloydZeppelin... Would you like fries with that?

If you're interested in computers (especially hardware), you should look into that. Graduating isn't a requirement (though I'll admit, being a "high school graduate" looks much better on your resume) and you could learn plenty of it online. I'd recommend buying a VERY cheap refurbished PC (You could probably find one for $100-200, the quality doesn't matter much) and taking it apart/rebuilding it. Once you've gotten some experience, I'd take the A+ certification and then try offering your services (free or not) to anybody you know who needs help with their computer .From there, you can look for a job in your chosen location and get some experience under your belt, then it's smooth sailing.

But again, you'll have to do "academic" work to follow this path. The A+ Certification test isn't too difficult, but it still requires a certain level of concentration and memory to pass it.

    Good luck! :)

ADHD isn't a get our of jail free card. I know it's hard but you have to pay some attention. If you feel that the ONLY way to pass your class is to get meds then go somewhere else to get them.

Consistently remind yourself or even get someone else to help you in the subjects. As for 10th grade science.... it was intuitive for me.

I built my own PC, fixed peoples PC, and most importantly understand most of the hardware and how they work in a PC. But no one's going to hire a self educated person with no certificate. I don't even know where to begin to start getting a certificate without High School.

I know it isn't, but am I supposed to fund my ADHD with $90 a pill everyday of the week? 90x5=$450/week, and I'm not willing to spend that much for just one pill or 5 pills. Not to mention how much that would cost everyday for the rest of the year. I did my homework everyday, but it was wrong, and I understand that.

Don't blame it all on your ADD/ADHD, I do know that it makes things more difficulter but if you actually concentrate hard enough you will succeed. I myself have ADD and Asperger Syndrome, I know it's hard mate. I did fail some classes last year and i'm not blaming it all on my ADD/Aspergers. I could have stopped being lazy and actually do something. If you really want something to help you ask your parents for Concerta, if they don't know what that is ask a doctor first!
