Runescape Classic is dying. Very frankly, no one monitors the in-game behavior, nor monitors the runescape classic forums. We're not asking for updates all we're asking for is a little dignity from Jagex towards THEIR OWN creation...

Im not being funny but RSC started becoming obsolete in 2002 didn't it? its now 2012... Its hard and quite unreasonable to expect Jagex still to be actively monitoring it etc 10 years after it moved on...

It was to be expected. Just be glad it still exists and is accessible tbh

Obsolete in '02, where did you get that from?

Anyways, on topic...it's been dying for years now, you're a little late. Considering they no longer update it, that could be why they changed their minds about bringing back the highscores and having it monitored.

It's the least of their worries now; RS2 (or upcoming RS3 you might as well say), as their current version, needs all of the attention it can get; although that is just being wrecked over time as well.

I'm suprised classic has made it this far. After they took the Rsc link off of the front page and swore never to open the game up I didn’t think it would last more than a year tops.

The obsolete in 2002 is just arse speaking :) - no offense

but i get the point and i agree why should they?
rsc is outdated. 10 years outdated - just been kept so you can get some of the nostalgia :)

Just be glad you still can access the servers :)

Im not saying it became instantly obsolete in 2002, but when RS2 came out, RSC then gradually become obsolete over the years as everybody moved on. Now 10 years since this occurred, RS3 is effectively coming out, making RSC the old thing on their list to do.

That what the point i was trying to make.

Rs2 wasn't out until '04(well the beta was in late '03, but yea...). I get what you mean otherwise though.

With the lack of things to do in F2p as it is, I think Classic could have just been added on as something to do for F2pers. For the reason above, they would probably appreciate it more than members at the moment, although some of us use it as well.

Just because it doesn't have millions of players, doesn't mean that the few select players who do still enjoy the nostalgic game should have to be shoved to the side..

Just be happy they didn't shut down the rs classic servers. It was a good game, but it's a relic.

    This.

Although it doesn't deserve to be shoved to the side, you need to remember, Jagex simply do not have the resources and man-power to actively monitor RSC anymore.

All their teams are working on RS2 and the new-to-come RS3, its lucky to still be open let alone be receiving maintenance.

They have the man power and resources(if going by the only 3 worlds they have open), it's just a little useless to use them for a version of the game that is no longer being updated/supported.

I doubt it'd be shoved aside anyway, it just won't be reopened anymore, if not sometime again in the future.

It's a real shame though, was hoping for the game to be cleaned up a little with the highscores restored. That would have been perfect for those who were looking for more of a challenge than the current version of the game can give. I've seen a couple maxed people on rs2 so far who have switched over for this reason.

First off the people that work at Jagex now, and those that worked when RSC was in it's prime are not the same.

Secondly, Jagex doesn't own RS in a sense anymore since they are being used as puppets by whoever owns Jagex now. Clearly with Andrews departure, the worst has come.

Third, Jagex doesn't care. I just wish they sold off or released the source code to RSC in it's current state, I for one would be first to flock out of RS2.

RS2 is a joke in the sense that, I had more to do in RSC as F2P than I do in RS2 P2P. Granted many minor steps were created as very tedious and time consuming, but then again games these days do that on purpose anyway.

SoF, Solomons Store? If you asked me that back in 01-07, I would have said:

    1) Your insane, and impossible.
    2) Jagex would not be it's own entity, and Andrew wouldn't be a part of the company.

Looks like I was half right.

    Yeah your not wrong there.

They definitely don't own it as they used to, Runescape is now run by investors who call the shots, ever since they gained majority control over the company since they reached 55%+ total of the shares, they started releasing updates like SoF... money grabbing updates.

Andrew and his brother sold ALL their stocks of the company around the time that the willdy/free trade was removed i believe. I'm pretty sure their names aren't even on the homepage anymore as they left Jagex.

You know a game is going downhill when its creator's sell up their own stock knowing full well what is inevitable.

Runescape is just now being dragged out, milked.
