Preventing Fake Reports.

Just thought what happens if someone decideds to get someone banned and put his msn/skype details on some forbidden site. How will these cases be dealt with. And 2nd, is the current procedure Looking into it at the point of the Ban Appeal. Im just curious cause a long time ago some ppl started pretending to be scammed and copy pasted fake conversations just to flame the sellers(including a copy paste msn).
Also how is a case dealt if its photoshopped. I had some no vouches guys who bought like 30m from me a year ago who had a case like that but he didnt bother appealing.
Also i think that if some1 posts a pic of bugabuse, for example an msn from it, he has to say who gave him the pic, that way some of these scams(i doubt many happened) can be prevented with a few more success %-tage rates.

Ive got more questions about that and would be happy to figure out some ideas if the issues are worked into seriously and if you think this is something that is rather important.
BTW just for my safety: untill I made the topic I had none of the above, and my msn which ive used for over a year is clean

I'd definitely support this. I think they need to go more in-depth into the topic. A similar thing happened to my assistant recently, his skype was hacked then the skype ID posted onto Bug Abuse. (Scam report denied/closed )

The thing that's sketchy with Bug Abuse is that you have to be referred by an existing member to be able to view posts on it, meaning that if they took the pics they are immediately flagged for associations with black hat or they could just say their friend took it when perhaps they took it, so it's a touchy issue.

I'd say it needs to be a bit more in-depth definitely but the ways you mentioned won't cut it.

We're going easier on "non-scamming" off site offenders lately. Generally a ban is appropriate if that user has been scamming, where we can do an in depth report.

 

When I find someone on HF that has been involved in blackhat activities and have post on sythe. I always go back through their history and see if they posted the same skype/email/identifier more than once and over spans of time. If someone is trying to frame someone they're not going to post their skype on 5 or 6 market threads several weeks apart.

As for a solution to problems like that all I know is to check and make sure that the posting of the identifier is more than just a one time thing in the span of a week.

As for photoshop anyone with a trained eye can, most of the time, easily spot fakes. They're are certain tells of when someone has been shopped as well as certain processes you can run over an image to check and see if there has been any post-processing of the image. So that isn't really a big deal.

I've had a random guy spam my vouch thread before, saying I had scammed him.

In my opinion the system used on sythe is pretty much perfect though. Moderators really look into the evidence, so I'm pretty sure a fake scam report doesn't harm you ever.

 

Thanks for the opinion. I never personally doubted the HUGE work moderators do. This is just the Suggestion section and would be happy if we together can donate some ideas to help moderators out when reviewing reports.
