They can ddos you and also find out the whereabouts of where you live.

 

can an average joe ddos someone?

or is this something that a professional hacker does?

 

An average person can learn and start ddosing and if your IP is out there for everyone to see then it's surely, at least one of the viewers ddos. It's much safer to censor it out.

 

A person that is somewhat fond of hacking/blackhat activites would be able to ddos. If not, it's not that hard to find a friend that can.
DDoSers aren't very hard to obtain. $10 will get you a simple one from a blackhat forums.

Other than ddosing and finding your location, there is really not much they can do, especially if they are just the average person.

 

IP would get your service provider, woopdee doo.

 

Some skid could boot you offline from a cheap shell booter.

 

Erm. Also, your general area. Just google your IP address. It will take you near your house (orwhereever you are)

Also, ddos can be done with the IP.

 

they can get your dox if they can find out where they live and stuff, just keep it hidden and u wont have to worry about it

 

Nothing really. Ddosing? For what? Shells cost money and why would they want to know where you live? I doubt they'd think twice about going to your home or even trying something along those lines.

Aside from slow your Internet down, you can't really do a lot with an IP address. Bear in mind it is illegal. If you are concerned of your real IP being out there, you can ask your service provider if they can provide a dynamic IP address or you could consider renting out a VPN server which hides your IP.

 

The best a person that can do is ddos you and it gets really annoying
