Embarresed to go to carboot?

Are you embarrassed to go to a car boot?

Me and my mate was talking about this, when we struck a certain age, about 9/10, we never went to the car boot again after going every week for like 4-5 years, we used to get a toy every week, why are people scared to go car boots?

Is it the risk of being seen by some-one you know?
They obviously won't think your a cheapskate as they're there.

On Sunday I'm going to go to the car boot first time in years, I'll be on the lookout for some oldschool ninetendo console/games, and if I get lucky, I might start going regularly, and when I'm older I wanna be one of them guys who buys and sells antiques.

 

Hell no, Garage Sales are the best. You get cool stuff really cheap.

I agree. There can be some hidden treasures amongst everything there, and you can often pick them up for incredibly cheap too. Nothing ghetto about bargain hunting. In a way you could say buying ANYTHING second hand is "ghetto".

There is no shame in buying second hand and getting it like 1/2 price.

 

Tbh, Guarantee it's super ghetto and would hate to be seen going to garage sales.... BUT, there are so many unknown hidden amazing items that you can find there, that it's COMPLETELY worth it... Found a $350 Ibanez guitar for $70, a $500 surfboard for $75, and a couple other super nice things.

 

I just want to know how it makes it anymore ghetto than buying used stuff off e-bay, or a pawnshop, or places like that? I just don't get how it is ghetto? Maybe it is a difference in culture, because around here garage sales are just a pretty usual thing and they're literally everywhere all of the time during the spring, summer, and early fall. I mean even the wealthy people have and go to garage sales. It isn't like it is some kind of taboo thing that is a shame to do.

 

I one time bought myself a Charizard 1st edition Pokemon card at one for 2 bucks. I was a kid at the time, but the card was worth well over 2 bucks. I still have it till this day.

 

I don't see why people would be ashamed to buy things that might have been 'pre-loved'. You can pick up some real bargains at car boot sales. I got my first ever BMX from a car boot for £3.50 and ended up selling it for £50 when I'd grown out of it. Sure, people sell a lot of useless shit but part of the fun is sifting through to find something you might like.

 

Estate sales are waaaaay better than garage sales. Got a 1200 dollar clarinet for 50 dollars.

 

I don't know i just believe it's ghetto. I don't like goodwill therefore i don't shop at garage sales.

Makes total sense because a thrift store and a garage sale are EXACTLY the same thing.

I'm always down for getting some good loot at sweet prices. Like these guys said, you could find a gem for the change in your pocket.
