i think there should be something implemented onto the 'edit signature' to stop you from exceeding the limit. because from what i've seen there is no warnings on the size you are allowed or what size the signature is currently.

I don't think there is anything, let alone a VB mod, that automatically measures your signature to see if it's oversize. But, adding a warning to the "edit signature" page might be a good idea, I'd support something like this:

I always have a problem with this issue... I call it "leading the dumb". If someone makes a signature that is too large, they they clearly haven't read the rules. That pic with the -n4n0 could be implemented to the rules, if it isn't already cba checking right now, and it might help them.

It's not that hard... really... I don't think the staff should go out of their way to help these people who ignore the rules or are unable to grasp a general feel for the size of their signature...

listen, just because you have a general 'feel' for the size of the signature, that still means you could go 1 Pixel over, and receive an infraction.

thanks for all feedback and support

I wish there was an option to hide signatures because a lot are large/annoying/dump your head in water and hold your breath worthy, but you gotta get over it.

My suggestion is a lot better tbh.

There is an add-on for that feature, BGlave... but I don't think it'd be implemented.

I don't think one pixel over really matters... if it does then oh well... if you "feel" you're reaching the limit, then try to measure it. If it is one big image, it's easy... if it is multiple images, it is again easy... however images and text could be debatable.

Irregardless, it is just a warning and one could ask a nice staff member to go over their signature if they're that concerned with going a pixel over... then they can say "bla told me I could... please understand."

There is no such way to limit signature size when inserting/editing one. And if there is, it would take a long time to code and would probably be very complex.

What Wulfspade posted could be added in, and possibly a link to Ryan's signature limit picture next to it as a reference - http://puu.sh/6oVN

As for physically restricting signature sizes when changing one, I don't think it can be done.

You know other forums have this feature? It's not hard to get the dimensions of an image and check it's less than the required amount.

Exactly, its not that hard to implement and it would stop alot of un needed infractions, and would also save alot of wasted time from moderators who have to keep checking and pm'ing people with oversized signatures

That would only help with big images. Once you start adding many little images and text it gets more complicated and I do not see a point in automatically limiting it as they get handled by global mods fairly efficiently.

but its a waste of time for mods to be checking them, when they could just set a limit
