Was My Laptop Purchase Worth It?

Hi, first of all, I bought an Alienware. My question is, well is it worth it. The model is M17x R3.


I don't want answers like, "alienwares are too overpriced" etc.

I want to know if the specific alienware model that I bought is a good deal. So if you know about the prices of alienware laptops, I need your help.

Personally, I would have purchased a brand new one. Price wise, I don't think it's the best deal.

I purchased an Acer with very similar specs from a company on eBay (brand new). It cost me $999, with 3 year warranty.

 

Horrible price... but then again I know that Alienware computers are overpriced as it is but I don't know how their overpricing works. I mean I guess they do -look- nice but price wise they aren't. If I were to consider the brand, I guess it might be a good deal.

Also, I have the "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6230" and it sucks... I wish you luck in your wireless endeavors =p. Maybe I got a bad one -shrug-

It's not the best price but very reasonable nonetheless it's a very good computer. Do you still get the warranty though?

 

Well since you didn't want to hear about alienwares being verpeiced, I guess that you don't care about its price.

I would say yes, it's a decent computer and has a name value.
I probably would have bought something else though.

Yeah. Go to NewEgg. You can get like:
AMD Octocore (8 Cores) 3.1ghz for $150
8 GB ram for $50
1 TB HDD (1,000 GB) for $90
Decent AMD Motherboard for $150
Decent 1GB Video Card for $150

You could just get the Video card in a store near you and same with a power supply and case but that'd all be desktop which would outrun you're Alienware and be about 75% of the price.

 

Any computer over 1k is overpriced IMO. You can build a PC that handles any game for under 1k.

Have people forgotten completely about desktop computers?
