What do you d when everything in life is boring?

Everything just seems boring and pointless. I used to play Runescape and hang out with friends but now all i do is play call of duty to pass the time and hang out with friends whenever they drag me out of my house (usually my best friend) ad where ever we go i just think "this is fucking stupid". I'm 15, will things get better when i turn 16 and i can get a job/drive? Im hoping for school to put a bit of structure in my life. Has this ever happened to any of you guys?

 

I find something new to do.

This happened to me once. You need to force yourself to do other things. Try learning a skill like programming, or taking up a sport like swimming or football.

Honestly, when I was your age I spent a lot of time indoors playing video games and I regret it (except for the time when RS was fun - prior to 2007). Do more things outside, it is summer after all. When you get out and exercise you feel happier. I think your problem is that you spend too much time inactive (based on what you've said).

 

Yeah i think hats what its came to, during school i played select soccer (burnt out of soccer now played it for 9 years) and i used to hang out after school all the time with friends. Now the only active things i do are longboard down to the local gas station to buy a Arizona or over to my best friends house to play more electronics.

 

Ya, a lot of kids don't go out as much anymore. I hardly see any kids riding their bikes anymore. When I was a kid we would always ride our bikes or skateboards.

 

When you get a car, a lot of things open up to you. You can go hang out with your friends whenever you want, plan dates with a girl, get a job. You'll start to feel more grown up and it's a great feeling.

If you pay attention to the fact that you have approx. 70 years ahead of you, you will start thinking about your future and how you want it to be spent. Start working in school and planning out goals that you end up with a happy life!

Women will also spark something, and if you use it wisely it will motivate you to be something for someone. A woman can make you feel great. Have you ever heard someone say they live for a girl? They make them so happy that everything in their life is perfect just the way it is.

Idk just something for thought. You have a lot of life ahead of you, cherish it. YOLO

 

I'm 15 too and yeah summer can be kind of boring. This entire summer I've felt really unproductive because I've really just been playing video games, or going on trips with my parents.
Just wait until school starts and you'll be plenty busy lol. Also try signing up for a sport, I signed up for lacrosse freshman year and it's pretty fun. Or just try to sign up for some sort of group. If you don't, then make sure you're taking AP classes. If you're not doing sports then there's really no reason not to have good grades.

im still waiting for the right girl but starting to lose hope gone through 12 girls in the past 8 months and no luck with one i like :/ but everytime i think of YOLO i wanna do dumb shit like sneak out with friends and what not

 

Lol, this too. Back in the day I would always play outside, and I could go ride my bike and see 5 kids from my school that I could hangout with. Now I'll go for a ride now and then and there is next to no one my age outside at all.

 

Reading this was honestly like reading something myself at 15 years old would read. I know people say this all the time man, and it is incredibly cliche sounding, but you really are in your best years. Life is, unfortunately, sort of linear in the regard that sometimes, everything can seem pointless. I know exactly what you mean bud, I was a pretty independent kid back in High School. I had plenty of friends and was not anti-social or anything, but I certainly would rather escape into a book, xbox, or runescape over full-fledged social events (not all the time, but sometimes).

When I did go to these social events, I too, found that everything seemed monotonous and pointless. Redundancy was starting to wear me thin. I ended up going out and taking up a bunch of different hobbies. I started playing Tennis, going paint-balling, and even tried surfing. Slowly but surely, life regained its luster.

Am I always entertained? Of course not, life is simply unavoidably dull and boring sometimes. But dude, enjoy High School man, even if it feels like it sucks I guaran-damn-tee you will look back on it someday and miss it. Trust me, coming from me (if you knew me), you'd know it's true. It took a few years for me to miss it, but boy oh boy do I envy you brotha.

Kick back, enjoy it. I love your carefree attitude, it'll get you far. Trust me, a lot of people share your sentiment about life.

 

Get a girlfriend.

No seriously, that's not some cliche bullshit, that's my sagacious wisdom. That will fill your time, and she'll actually(if you find the right girl) be interesting.

 

Oh woe is me I'm too lazy to do shit with myself. That's not flaming, every 15 year old goes through it. You know what the problem probably is? Video games. They get boring don't they? And then you have no idea what to do because you haven't been building any skills or passions in anything else. Learn a musical instrument or something.

Depression is a typical part of being a teenager. I'm not gonna give you the sympathy vote, I'm just saying that's how it is. Hormones are unbalanced and you're going to have ups and downs. Talk to your parents about it if you really want to get it off your chest.

So wait, you're 15. You've gone through 12 girlfriends in 8 months. Do you objectify women? Are they your toys? Grow up. Where I come from you'd be hated for that.

YOLO is a pretty stupid concept to think by too. You should be focusing more on being productive. Doing stupid and "fun" things may be pleasing at the time, but you'll quickly find that it's very temporary and you'll go back to being glum and bored. You need to ask yourself "will this make me happy" not "will this be pleasing". Remember, pain is inevitable but suffering is a choice, and right now you're choosing to suffer.

 

That can bite you in the butt. I snuck out with my brother one night and fell off of our roof and broke my back. Sucked donkey balls.

 

Usually I just go look for things to get addicted to and spend a couple hours on, then later I'll decide if I'll keep playing it or not. Other than that I just watch Tv, play rsps, xbox, do school work, go out with friends.

 

In my spare time i play RuneScape, Call of Duty and use sythe at the moment.

 

Your nearly 16, shouldn't you be going to parties every other weekend and having a blast? thats how i remember my teenage years, constant parties and gatherings then when we hit 18 it evolved into pub and clubbing.

Id say get your ass off the couch and do something active, fun, and if it involves girl then fantastic go do it.

Or if your really not much of an out-going person or into drinking and that, just do casual things with friends doesn't have to be adrenaline pumping or involve drugs or alcohol, and you might even meet a girl along the way, and having a girlfriend will definitely kill your boredom.

Do you play any sports or Instruments, do you have any hobbies that don't include video games? If not, you should strongly consider finding some.

 

I went through this a few times in my life. I am sort of in one of those phases right now. I find that changing what you do or who you do it with helps a lot. Find things you would never think of doing and just go and do them. That is the best thing. You're only 15, I mean how many things could you have done so far?

Hang out at different place, with different people and try different things.

 

I like to just talk to random people... and I love to be open and straight-up as much as I can IRL. This isn't hard for me though... because I've established myself as "That guy who always wears blue and carries a badass motorcycle helmet."

So, talking and meeting new people is as easy as minding my own business... in fact, the few times I'm at a red light, someone always talks to me so I find that fun.

Also, motorcycles are fun... just riding around... but that's another story.

Long story short, people have different definitions of fun... so just see what you like and do it... you're young and it is summer break... a long break that I recall being full of "I'm bored" texts. 3 months of nothing to do is a long time... but trust me, it won't be like that when you're older =].
