Can we please seriously consider an increase in the space -- at least for large donors if it's going to put stress on the site? Every day I'm placed under a high risk situation by getting rid of important messages. It was easy at first, but now I have to pick between multiple important messages. And please don't say 'you can just save them,' because once you save them it goes into text format and it's useless for evidence. I would love to just clear my private message box and have it not be full every day, but that's not a realistic option.

I think it would be reasonable to increase it depending on how much you've donated.

 

For big gold dealers I can see why it's important. I mean, for charge-backs and what not, I'm assuming evidence can be found in PM's? Considering the large scale operation the top gold dealers run here, would most likely be useful to have it increased.

I'll see if Matthew can easily do this. Perhaps 1,000 for $25, 1,500 for $50 and 2,000 for $100?

 

I think the current PM space works out for -

Normal users - 250
Donators (Any donator) - 500
Sectionals / OMMs - 1000
Globals - 2000
Admins - 10,000

I don't think PMs take up a lot of PM space. It can be a pain to have to clear it out sometimes, but everyone has to do it at some point.

It would be nice to see higher PM space for higher donors, although each donor amount and PM box would need it's own usergroup. It could still be done, though.

 

The only issue with making it a perk for the larger donors right now is that all donors are put in to one usergroup, meaning they all have the same perks as a baseline. The rest are applied manually (usertitles, user images etc.)

I'll have a word with Matthew about adding a usergroup for the higher donors, perhaps $100+.

$100+ sounds good. It would force large traders to give back if they want a lot of PMs.

 

Yes please. The space is all but a non-issue, so it just comes down to a bit of work adding a new user group.

 

Yeah, that's something Matthew will have to look in to since he doesn't like us playing around with anything donation-related.

 

I completely support and agree with this suggestion.

I was thinking about suggesting what SuF and Laptop69 suggested, then I read Vert's post.

But what if it was done for every few $100 donated. Like say $500, $1k, $1.5k etc. The gaps may seem big, unless Matthew is willing to add more usergroups and make the gaps smaller. It just gives people another privilege when donating passed the $300 mark for a custom rank. The only benefit people gets after donating passed $300 is bragging rights.

 

It would just require more code for the backend.

 

Support, it'd be nice seeing more PM space, especially for those who actively conduct themselves in the market.

 

I think its a needed update for people even if they not donators because I am afraid to delete messages about trades because if i dont have them theres no proof

Guessing server space, bear in mind how many PMs are created and sent per day and how many users are on the site, it would just overload eventually.

While this seems like a reasonable suggestion I think it's getting priorities out of line. I think the donation system needs to be fixed before more perks are added.

 

Fixed how? If you're on about the PP account, that was fixed a week ago according to Matthew.

 

No, not to get off topic, because I support this suggestion but the donation system is bad. There are few donations options and each donation option requires you to usually pay 10%+ more than the rank to actually get the rank. It needs to be reformed, but this isn't the thread for it.

I like the suggestion and I see that it would help out sythe by raking in more donations, but I am just saying that it needs to be easier to donate because as it stands you have to jump through hoops to donate.
