General Staff Feedback

theres a reason why Staff are the only users allowed to help out or deal with scam reports, its because we have generally larger insight and understanding of these cases, all of us together are responsible for about 1k scam reports each month. In regards to this scam report, it was posted in the Staff lounge and a handful of sectionals, globals and even admins got involved - The right decision was made.

 

Although the staff do have more experience and insight on these matters, there is most likely an unintentional bias that goes in to matters involving other staff members. This is understandable considering no one wants to codemn their co-worker and friend, but it also means that there is a bit of an advantage on one side, in this case corey's. I think that the community as a whole should devise a way for cases like these to be handled fairly for both parties. I don't think that having the community vote or give their insight is such a bad idea. For example each person could give a one post input that is neither a response nor arguement towards any other post, just simply a descision and conclusion based on the evidence presented. While not everyone may have the experience with scam reports that all the staff do, most people have common sense and a unique outlook on each case, which is just what is needed to handle a case such as corey and grave's.

 

Users are going to also be extremely biased, most likely more than the staff will be. That and they can not know all the facts of the case in many instances, such as this one, that just should not be made public.

 

I think its unfair to suggest that bias was a problem in this, Staff remain impartial as possible. Without seeing the discussion yourself its hard to understand how you could assume bias just because of the outcome - The outcome in itself was that the lack of evidence to suggest that corey was liable for the chargebacks - We always ask for undisputable proof, so what have we done wrong here?

This - Users will always demand one thing and one thing only - the "scammer" pays back in full to the "Scammed". As much as community resolution would be something that would seem to be nice to work towards, it simply wouldn't be fair.

 

How could every user on sythe be bias? For example I feel indifferent towards both grave and corey, but I do believe that I would have come to a different conclusion. I also think it'd probably be beneficial to make those "certain facts" public if we were to do something like that.

Also note that I am more so suggesting that we all, as a community, work towards coming up with a better system for cases like these. The example I gave before was simply a possibility.

 

This is stopping now. We will not be releasing certain information to the public. If I knew where your dad was buried would you like it if I put it on 4chan? No. Most scam reports are handled in a very transparent way. Its only on a very rare occasion that they are not and it will remain that way. The conclusion reached in this case was the only correct answer. Anything else would have plainly been wrong on multiple levels.

 

Instead of constantly thinking of ways to prove me wrong, think of how what I say can help. There is always room for improvement, so instead of trying to push me as far down as you can, take my feedback into consideration. Obviously there is a reason I have been inspired to post whatever I post, so maybe it'd be better to try and grow from the feedback instead of denying it and avoiding it like it's the plague.

 

You are wrong and because you do not know what we actually know and what we actually discussed in the staff lounge your feedback is irrelevant. The system we have is that scam reports are handled in public unless there is reason not to. The public will never know what the reason not to is as then it would defeat the purpose of being private. Therefore this will not change and because you do not have full knowledge of the case nor what the staff thinks about it you are in no position to question our judgement and therefore this feedback is pointless and a waste of time and thus it will stop.

Oh wait I do have some more feedback. Firez decided to personally attack me in the spam forum to boost his ego a bit more, and instead of continuing to bicker in a public manner I wanted to resolve in maturily, 1 on 1 via pm, but unfortunatley he has ignored every attempt I have made to reach out to him. I even tried to talk to him in the irc, but he responded only with unintelligble fractions of sentences followed by some rap lyrics and a "I'm busy right now". As an admin i'd hope one would be more intelligent then that. I even used to admire you, and I never listened to the people who told me you were a moron, but well I guess I should have. Take it as a personal attack, or take it is as feedback, but either way I'm sure you're just going to ban me and then make some more posts about how you pwnt me, because that is just the quality admin you are.

 

This thread doesn't exist for people to sit here and make cyclic arguments. Either take this to private messaging or it will be dealt with much more harshly. This is your first and final warning.

 

My post was mainly feedback for firez. The arguement between suf and I has ended.

 

Grave may have been a decent person to wait so long before demanding a friend to pay him back, but he was also irresponsible with his proof and, in my own opinion, should not have waited to ask for staff intervention if a current staff member was refusing to pay what he owes him.

Seems more like you want to get banned to attempt to prove some point you have. Stop being an attention whore and move on.

 

This isn't about me, if you want to talk about me go to one of the many spam forum threads trashing me. Its also getting old calling me an attention whore everytime I make a post someone doesn't like.


On topic: I agree that verts has been very involved lately and it is very nice to see.

 

Get on topic. This is feedback about specific moderators for specific things.

 

Huge thanks to Verts for being so active. I love seeing you around and I know IRL commitments keep you busy but it is always funny when you're in IRC or when you post. So thanks for your continued service.

As an observation, I don't think there has been a feedback thread in a month where an argument hasn't broken out between X339 and SuF. (Hyperbole, just in case you guys didn't get it. ) While x339 has become annoying I think it is SuF's job to ignore him and not perpetuate the fight because staff are generally held to a higher standard because of their responsibilities; x339's opinions may be misinformed/incorrect but there is no reason to fight over silly things. It would cut down on the e-drama and name slinging.
