Cancer

I photoshopped my mom a car sticker today because some traveling sticker-maker family just pulled up into town to set up shop for the week. Here's the design, what do you think?



It's simple, I'm happy with the result, AND it only took an hour. She had cervical cancer, hence the teal. I also have a breast cancer version that I made before I remembered that there are different colors for different types of cancer. So here's that:

Wow! That actually looks amazing. I really like the shadings and the border.

I'd be careful with that. I don't know about around where you live but around where I live they are pretty strict about having 'vulgar' language on cars. This kid had Piece of Shit on the back of his car and they stopped him and made hime scrape it off on the side of the street.

Other than that concern it looks pretty awesome.

My mum has had cancer, My Grandfather has had cancer 3 times and My great grandfather has had cancer 1.. I find this very offensive and dislike it very much, cancer is not something that you can just tell to fuck off its something that hurts Physically and mentally to every one that has it and every one around them. Would be nice If you could change it...

 

Yea man, Cancer got took my Grandma... It's a terrible thing we live with. But the sig looks nice man.

 

Dude, it's a mentality. It shows strength and will power. We all know that cancer hurts and this isn't downing that at all - it is saying this cancer can't be me. Would you rather have this or Cancer Survivor on the back of a car? Cancer Survivor makes it sound like they lived through a plane crash. There is no emotion in it.

 

I won't change it because of your hardships, this is the internet and frankly I don't care what you've been through. This means something to me and my mother who survived cancer, and I'm not posting it for your politically correct approval, I'm posting it for feedback on the design quality.

 

Don't really know where to start, but the phrase can really go both ways. I understand what the message was, but it's still offensive regardless.

I do like the layout of the text.

 

Its design is fantastic and don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong the expressing what you feel and I praise you for that. I just feel against nothing against you, your design or thankfully your mother. I think its really cool, Just could have used a better word then Fuck =S

In the case of the design being vulgar: I bandied about the idea of "Suck it, Cancer", where the ribbon still fits in as the CK in the word "suck"... but that was only if I ever attempted to market this design on T-Shirts or bumper stickers for next year's "Rely for Life" cancer-walk that we do here in my hometown annually.

It's pretty neat in my opinion.
I just think that the vulgar language is a bit much.
Could be like "Anti-Cancer" or "Fight Cancer", something more appealing to the general public. lol.

 

The whole point of the design is the awareness ribbon standing in as the "-ck" in the word "fuck". Therefore, it'd entirely defeat the purpose of this design to alter it to something like "Anti-Cancer" or "Fight Cancer"

@TingBingBong, shadows won't work since it's meant to be a window decal/vinyl sticker for cars, and you can't have transparency on window decals

Thanks for the feedback though. I have the strangest feeling that the man who I had print off these stickers this morning will claim this as his own design and sell it as his own, but meh... I have the PSD and the receipt he gave me to have him print it so if any legal trouble arises when I try and market this, I can shoot him down

 

there's something I'm really not liking about the gradients - for starters don't mae it teal-white make it teal-different teal. Second try and make it more consistent - eg using a clipping mask over all of it

 

Definitely like it, but it is a little hard to read.

i think its pretty sick and its a great idea although its a lil hard to read its pretty cool and there is no way you would get in any trouble for having it on your car
