Buy a rare?

hey guys

im quitting for a few months and wondered, should i hold my cash or buy a rare? i have around 160m last time i checked!

Personally I would not. This whole combat update could do pretty much anything to the market.

 

whens that due? as thats when i was planning on coming back to play, no one has any guesses on what itll do to rares then?

 

My guess is that rares will drop in price. People will want to start PKing again, and testing out the new combat. They'll most likely be selling their rares to be able to buy combat gear, leading to a flooding of rares to the market.

 

ill save the gold then, is it worth holding onto my gear then? as i assume thatll go up in the same way rares will drop?

whens the release date for the new system?

Wait until the rares get flooded into the market.
Then you can buy whatever you want.

 

Buy a santa hat and sell it back at the start of December

 

Santas actually usually crash around december every year due to people thinking they will rise in price and dumping them.. as others have said rares will more than likely drop quite a bit with the new update due in september or october. lots of people are claiming they will quit leading to an influx in rares in the market as well as the many selling their rares to buy more gear to pk as others have said. Id say this is about the sketchiest time in rs history to consider buying a rare and would definitely advise against it.

 

if your quiting long term, buy a rare, if your quiting for like under a year then keep the cash

 

Yeah u never know for sure what could happen to a rare, I'd just keep the money. just my opinion..

 

If i were you, I would probably buy a red mask or something, prices may fluctuate, but it's never going to drop.

 

Buy a rare, even if they crash a little they will rise at some point. Hence they are called "rares". Discontinued items wont drop considerably, but will rise more.

 

Cash is king.

Either take the less risk and just hold the cash, or gamble on a rare you think might increase like crazy in the future.

 

thats funny you think that, look up the ge chart on ANY rare and you will see how wrong you are. also specifically look at non-wearables such as half jug of wine pumpkins, ect. before posting advice you should know what you are talking about as you clearly do not. with this new update coming (a bigger update that runescape has ever faced) EVERYTHING is up in the air, rares could crash to devastating lows, (they have been on a decline in the past 6 months anyways) cash is and always has been king. at this point in time there are no safe investments anyone saying otherwise doesnt know what they are talking about . Ofcourse there isnt going to be any more santas phats or ween masks introduced, but if 25-50% of the playerbase quits (which is ATLEAST the amount of fuckers saying they will quit) the market will be flooded with rares as well as the markets demand for them decreasing leaving rares cheaper than they have been in years. its called economics. ANY investment is rares is EXTREMELY high risk, granted you MAY not lose money in the longer term you WILL more than likely lose money in the shorter term (6-12 months) with every big update rs has had the haters have maybe quit temporarily and then eventually came back possibly and or new players bringing the market back to where it once was, but it almost ALWAYS drops with big updates. keep in mind i have nothing to stand on with this argument other than say.. every past update in runescape history and economical common sense.

 

Do what i did and get a santa hat, then save it until christmas

 

I don't see how the new combat update would have a huge impact on the price of rares.

OT: I'd suggest investing in a rare, most likely a Santa.
