Noob with avatar problems

Hi Sythe! I've been encountering some problems with my user-avatar on the forums, maybe some of you veterans could kindly help me out ^_^

So here's the deal, I've seen several people with avatars of images, with blued out backgrounds in the same shade of the Sythe-forums color scheme. Now I myself have attempted to do this as well with a couple of avatars and it always looks perfect in Photoshop, even after uploading it to imgur.. but as soon as I upload it to Sythe, through the user avatar uploader in the Control Pannel, the quality instantly diminishes greatly, and rough pixelated borders ruin the continuity between my avatar's blue background and the rest of my user pannel on my posts.

Pretty much all you need to do is take the "Magic Eraser" tool to it in Photoshop. It eliminates that white background, and replaces it with a transparent background.

I also changed the dimmensions of the image to a little smaller, so that you could apply it using your donator perks. Post the Imgur link in this thread: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1010983

 

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer! However, the images I've attempted to use, before dying the background the Sythe shade of blue, I tried transparency and it's giving me the same error that the image you made for me is, in that it's replacing the transparent background with a white block. It seems to work in posts, but not in my avatar (the transparency).

If you're talking about that white block on your profile page, that's there for everyone. It's a known glitch (I think), but nothing has really been done about it. Either way, your avatar is transparent.

And I'm not sure if you noticed, but I made an edit in my first post regarding how to apply your avatar.
