Mining rune ore to dangerous?

I'm just trying to figure out if mining rune ore is to dangerous for a lvl 70 with:
80 def
1 magic
1 prayer
and pretty much everything else is useless.

I am also F2P and would not go members bound because it would obv be to dangerous. If anyone agrees that it is to dangerous can you give me suggestions on what I should do to ensure that I don't die or when I would be ready to go mine rune ore? Thx

 

1 prayer is kind of risky, especially if you run into people with Dungeoneering weapons. Bring some Swordfish or Anchovy Pizza with you and bank when you're inventory is about half-full of ores. If you're getting attacked, run west to the red spiders, then south until you reach the mine. The hob-goblins or skeletons around the mine (can't remember which monster is there) are aggressive, so they will attack the person attacking you, giving you plenty of time to flee or log-out and hop to safety.

Make sure private chat is on 'friends', because some people have nothing better to do but add you and follow you around, trying to kill you.

Or you could use another account to check and see if the coast is clear. A new level 3 will do. If you did this, you could also have the other account check to see if the ore has respawned or not -- in addition to scoping out the scene for pkers.

 

Take someone with you, when my friend goes to mine Rune I come with to protect him.

Most of the time the pker is oblivious and it just gives you free loot, some people even protect for free because of the money they can make from mine killers.

 

what I would do is get like your friend or something to stay with you so if someone comes he can kill them. That what I did with my friend Instead I killed them while he mined and I got 30% profit.

 

Thanks for the suggestions. I know this wouldn't help too much but would using bind on someone allow me to escape either by running or logging out?

 

It would give you some time against melee of course, but not at all any help if the pkers are ranged or mage.
