Anyone find a fix for running RS in Software mode?

I and many others have been having issues running RS in Software mode as of today. It works for some people, but not for others. Does anyone know any information as to how to get it working in that mode?

 

My only guess is to delete
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\jagexcache
Might also see jagexcache2 etc etc
Also delete any
jagex_cl_runescape_LIVE
in that folder

Then load rs and see.

 

That's what we told everyone at first to try, but it made no difference.

Some users have even tried Java hard resets with no success

I am able to run in software mode on my windows 7 laptop, but not in my Windows XP VM.

 

Get a program called Revo Uninstaller.
Use it to completely uninstall java use the most advanced/thorough options it has and completely delete everything.
Then install latest JRE and try.

What exactly is wrong with the people having problems?

 

We already have a guide on how to do Java Hard Resets. People have tried it, and it didn't make a difference. It happens to 90%+ of our users. Basically, RS forces them into Safe Mode, and whenever they try and switch to Software mode it won't let them and tells them that it is unable to use that display mode. It started happening partway through today, after the 2nd system update.

The reason this is a problem is because only a few of the bots function on Safe Mode, and the others require Software mode to work.

 

Probably a Jagex problem then. Check the RS forums they are probably aware and working on getting it fixed.

 

So far it's been working on my VMs in Firefox, but not Chrome.
