Mass BAN

Been hearing about a mass ban this morning and I'm wondering if anyone here has been banned.

I've heard of a rumor. But no one really confirmed it.

All I noticed was I dropped 1k rank from around 18k. But my guess was the highscore didn't update the F2P players (Who doesn't show). And they updated it. However, if it's a ban, it's rather surprisingly only around 1k was banned out of the top 20k. I expected more to bot, or at least more to get banned.

 

If it was true, Jagex would certainly be bragging about banning them.

People who cancel membership remain on the high-scores for a fixed period of time. And today must have been the day when former-members within the fixed range were removed from the high-scores.

This means that all the 2-week-free-trial accounts were removed from the high scores today -- many of which are probably bots.

People on the forums with extremely mediocre (albeit ranked) stats who had previously been passed by trial accounts with similar yet slightly less mediocre stats have "moved up in rank" [sic] because those who previously out-ranked them are no longer on the high score list.


According to people on the forums, the high-scores went from 2 million to 1.2 million, suggesting a 40% drop in high score-ranked membership ... which is significant. But people have been saying on the forums they canceled membership 2 months ago and remained on the highscores for that long, so it's entirely possible (and I'll say likely) that the 2 million ranked accounts with membership that Jagex had been showing was inflated 40%.

I didn't check the numbers before this update, so I can only take their word for it.

If there was ban wave botting sites forums would be full of cry topics, they are not.

 

Apparently 700k accounts were banned, highscores leaped from 2.1M to 1.4M.

 

I'm not banned and I've been 24/7 Dungeoneering with iDungeon for a week now almost. ^_^

 

Alot have been banned indeed.
I went up 14K ranks in magic whilst i'm level 95. Went up in total with 1K Ranks and I'm in the top 25K

Was only a matter of time, glad to see a reasonable majority of cheaters removed from the game. They won't stop everyone, however.

 

It isn't that f2p players got cleared or ex-p2p members are removed, if you arren't p2p anymore you have 7 days before you get deleted out of the highscores. F2p isn't on the highscores.

 

I'm glad that I'm not part of the mass bans, but I'm a level 138 who's been paying for membership since 07. If anyone is banned it's most likely f2p accounts.

 

Accounts were NOT banned... Jagex cleared all free-to-play players off of the hiscores (those who's membership expired and were still on there). If you read around on the forums you'd see this.

Also, if they did a mass ban, there would be an announcement, we all know Jagex loves to brag about their accomplishments.

 

Nope not get banned with any from my accounts.

 

Fingers crossed, I've had no bans thus far. Has anything been said on the official Runescape forums regarding the matter yet?

runescape just had a major update about 20 mins ago, could def be true. i love how everyone thought that mod saying optimus NOT happening just yet was true X D maybe they came through! good riddance fuck bots.

 

I completely agree with you. No person has said that he got banned.
