Hey guys, I was thinking about getting a new PC but then I thought to myself my laptop is still fine and when I do buy a new PC it will get outdated in a few months then if I want to have the latest PC I'll have to keep buying the latest parts for it and it would be like a endless money pit. I know some of you guys can say, just spend the a good amount at the start and then you won't have to keep upgrading but its kind of like a Apple product. Buy a iPhone 4 and then iPhone 5 comes out and your model is outdated and you really want the new one. So what do you guys think, is buying a expensive PC like a vicious cycle.

It honestly depends on what you are going for.
If you want the best up to date components with the best processor and 3 of the best graphic cards in sli then yes, it definately is a vicious cycle and you will never wib.

But if you are just looking for good gaming you shouldnt have to upgrade but every 3 years or so honestly.

If you are looking to just browse the web and you buy a computer now with good hardware i cant imagine you would ever need to upgrade honestly. Computer hardware has come such a long way, but most core programs and the internet are not that intensive to need even a quarter of the processing power peoples computers have.

No, I like spending all my money on my PC and thing related to my PC. It's not like I want to buy anything else.

It is a vicious cycle because the companies providing these products want it to be. They know people will keep buying new models to be at the top of the latest technology so keep introducing new models, even if the difference between the new model and old is small. I believe the way in which companies plan for products to become outdated is called planned obsolescence.

It's a way for the companies to keep bringing in money.

being in the it business and running a few gaming netcafees im shocked at how much money kids use on their gaming rigs... Truth is you can build/make one sick machine for half the price and for the next 5 years update it very minimal and still rock all the new releases.

My customers are shocked at how good our pc's run when they game all the good stuff and they learn the price...

In some cases the older cpu's run the new games better than i7 etc. because the games has not been optimized for the new cpu's... One example is SW:TOR...
