The rule has always been that it was restricted to staff; Then an admin changed non-staff usernames (wolfdog, Ricky), the response to this was Matthews post finally ironing out that Staff are restricted to namechanges when they're name is unprofessional.

The unprofessional part is the part that has become subjective, admins ideas of professionalism will differ.

to prevent this; its simple.. either force all namechanges to be accepted by sythe (which is regularly the case anyway) or Matthew; however, doing this will irritate them, I can imagine.. and We'll see the dwindling of namechanges, even for staff with irritating usernames.

I think name changes should be for everyone with specific requirements.

You just have to keep track of name changes.

my head hurts trying to keep up with this thread...

    >.> anyways, I feel as if Mods should be allowed a name change as it seems fit. The recent ones (Superman,Noam,Frenzy, etc) No one says superman123321 as Superman seems easier to type or, Noam's name was just to hard to even try to pronounce(I've sat and tried >.>) and I've only seen a few people call Frenzy "PK Frenzy".. And as for ShoopdaDoop; Well idk, its just akward, and Shoop fits more. Now, I'm sure if Matthew himself was against the recent name changes; he wouldnt of let it happened. As Im sure there these things are probably discussed before changed.

I've always thought that names like "Shoopadoop", etc. gave personality to the staff. Now everyone's name is just dull. Nevertheless it's not a big deal and isn't directly affecting anyone.

Still can't be done, not even Capitalizations are allowed in regards to name changes. If you were promoted to staff, you could probably get it capitalized, however. Other than that, I don't see a way for you to get it capitalized.

It was like that back then I was a mod, I just haven't changed it yet. I intend to be $100 possibly $200 donor over the summer, so it won't really matter then.

    Let's keep this on-topic guys.

What is wrong with making it a reward? Minor name changes aren't a huge deal and are still linked to the user id. Make a consistent rule for example, two ways to get a name change (merely "professionalized") $100-200 donation. Or after serving on staff for 3 months. As many have stated it really isn't a big deal. So take advantage of the fact that some people really do care about it and take the extra donations.

Staff already have this ability (partially) so make the rule consistent. After 3 months they get a professionalized change which of course would have to be approved like a user image. As others have said a lack of consistency is what the real problem is.
