    How Much is Too Much?

I don't give anything. Where I live, at least, alot of the homeless people are known to spend more of the money that receive on drugs and alcohol. I'd rather give my money to a trusted charity - this way, I know the money will be put to good use.

Also, I don't like how some homeless people put out a can and pass out next to it, hoping people will drop in some change. I'd rather give my money to a homeless person who is working for it. I.E Playing the guitar on the street, dancing for money.

I usually just give whatever change is in my pocket.

Sometimes I pretend I have only a few coins and try to avoid grabbing the dollar coins, but end up leaving behind the cents and giving the dollars zzz

You know, I never really thought about this before. Every time I'm approached by a homeless person and they ask for money, even if I have some spare change, I say "sorry man, don't have any on me". Does that make me a selfish liar?
It's not that I don't like being charitable, but I can't help but feel that if I give one guy money, some other guy is going to approach me and ask for money as well.

Well depends because most bums do deserve to be bums like said above but if I feel someone is generally in need I might give them a spare 25 cents or something.Just to get them by a short time and to know that I done my part to help them.

If I feel like it, I'll give a homeless person on the streets almost all my spare change (which is usually a few euros).

I gave one guy 40 cents after he stopped me in the street and told me a sad story, but he said it was too little and threw it at me. Alot of beggars run scams.

I've heard similar stories from friends, where a begger came up to them crying, telling them he needed a few euros for an insuline shot, since he was a diabetic. A month later they meet the same guy, who apparently forgot who they were, and used the EXACT same story, crying included.

I never give money to bums, they always usually have alcohol on them and look drunk/stoned, i will not pay for their addiction. the bums who use a hungry looking dog next to them as bait to lure in guilty innocent people are the worst.

Who are you to say they are drunk or high, a bit biased are we?

Maybe that individual hasn't slept in days due to starvation and has spent countless days walking, looking for something to eat. Perhaps the dog with the man is his dog, or his best friend and he's asking for money not to feed himself but to feed his dog so he can spend another day taking him through the world.

Regardless of the situation it is a bit selfish and non-American to not help. People complain about the problem ahead, helping out illegals or other countries instead of helping our own. We are the cause to our own problem.

    How Much is Too Much?

This is just my take on it.

I don't place to high of a value on money. I like making money (selling gold on sythe), but my frugal ass doesn't spend any of it. Mostly because I only buy stuff that i really need. I think i like the idea more so of what money represents, that being security. Usually when someone approaches me (dependant on my mood), ill cough up some money if i have it. My take on it is if they are needing to panhandle for money, then they need it worse then i do.

The least i have given was probably a quarter, and the most was $6. Hell I gave some old lady ( close to 70 years old)at sonic a $4 tip on a $2 ticket because I felt sorry for her

$5 is too much. None of the options available are in the range of "too much"

Maybe just right for a few.

I'd give them around a dollar, it's not too little, and it's not too much.

    How Much is Too Much?

Firstly: I don't carry change on me so I wouldn't be able to give him any of those amounts
Secondly: I don't really believe in charity of money

I'd change the figures if I were you to:

    0
    $.01-0.50
    $0.51-1.00
    $1.00-3.00
    $3.00+

I don't normally give money to bums/hobo's, but sometimes if they're polite or I'm just in a jolly mood I don't mind shelling out a couple bucks. I probably cap at around $2.00 though.

    How Much is Too Much?

Too much would be if the bum asking had way bigger muscles than me..

Enough would be not from the amount you have given but from the heart when you hand it to them. That dollar you gave can disappear in just a single snap but your smile when you hand them the money can feed their hopes.
