Think of it as PayPal's retarded little brother. Their credit card processing has been down forever, so it's basically only good for depositing from your bank and such. That being said, it's more secure for the time being.

Wire transfers have a much more secure process. Bank transfers can refer to both wire transfers and instant transfers.

Basically, what you're asking to know:
1. Wires are safe as long as they clear on your bank. You can, however, still get in issues with your bank if it's sent from a hacked account.
2. Any type of instant transfer is not safe. If your bank doesn't charge you a fee, it's not a wire (generally). Contact your bank for specific details.
3. For Mail, I always ask for their tracking code. If they don't know it, I go based off of return address and clues on what's in it. Obviously, I do ask them to leave their MSN e-mail in it though.

I think it's an absolute joke, but it's up to you. Go try it out.

The safest way to accept PayPal is through your checkout form on your website. It signifies an actual purchase, and you can get vital information such as IP address from a web form.

They're similar to Western Union. They claim that.. once you send the money, it can't be taken back, but there are a few things to consider:

2. Before you pick it up, it can be cancelled at any time.

Works similar to PayPal. It's obviously a smaller company, a little more ghetto. By being ghetto, it ends up being a little more safe. For example, at the moment, no one from the US can use their credit card to send payments.

 

Hey grave, I'm always really suspicious when selling with paypal for about .65/m considering PA offers significantly lower prices, yet, people still pay the extra for paypal? Unless the buyer has the intent to chargeback or isn't aware of PAs existence (which I bet most people know of it) why would you say so many people have interest in buying overpriced gold via pp? Are majority of these people scammers would you say?

PlayerAuctions annoys a lot of people. While if someone refuses to use PlayerAuctions, the chances that they will chargeback is high, it's still possible to do legitimate transactions on PayPal. It's just the larger ones you have to watch out for.

 

When I see people selling names they say is it RTF? or smth like that. What's the difference between selling the name and transferring it?

 

RTF means ready to transfer. Some people will sell just the name, by having it ready for transfer otherwise they create a blank level 3 account with the name on it and sell that to the buyers for them to change themselves.

How much are you protected by receiving a picture of someone's photo ID when selling through paypal? Does it greatly increase your chance of winning an unauthorized dispute or is it still nearly as risky?

I've asked a couple others about this and they said to include a piece of paper in the picture of the ID with the content of the trade written on it, not sure why though? Thanks in advanced.

 

People tell you to do that because some people can generate fake IDs. By having more information in the picture, it makes it harder to be generated or stolen.

Now adding on that, the whole goal is to make sure the buyer at least has the account owner's ID. This ensures, for the most times, that no unauthorized claim can be charged, since it was authorized in the same household. Of course, people will still file these claims even if they bought it themselves, but especially if a family member used their card. If it's a female, I would highly recommend calling them. When you submit these information to PayPal, they will consider it, but it doesn't help as much as it does to prevent the chargeback in the first place.
