I was originally going to post this under the suggestions forum, but it looks like it requires more community participation and discussion. It's also not definitive, so it should be read as feedback.

Almost every section, excluding the 'Other games market' has the same amount of average active views as each section of the Runescape Market. It just seems like Sythe has tried moving away from the Runescape Blackmarket in an attempt to expand, and it's hurting the potential of the Runescape sections.

It would be nice if the seven subcategories of the Runescape Market were moved to it's own 'Runescape Market' category on the index view.

On another note, the 'Other Games Markets' is really weird. It goes from Other Games to having prominent sections that should be listed directly under market, and then there's another Other Sales, under the Other Games Market. Maybe move up the categories within the 'Other Games Market' into the 'Market' section, as they each have prominent followings. This would also leave the 'Other Sales' under the Market as well, mimicking the intended behavior of the 'Other Games Market.'

 

I understand what you mean, But I think this would hurt the other sections that DO need the activity increase.

I think it would be great for the RuneScape part, and its nevertheless the biggest part here on Sythe.
I've got a feeling it would work pretty well!

 

100% agree, Other games should be separated from Runescape Market. It is the bread and butter of these forums and should have more space on the main page. Other games can still be in the next section underneath, but subforums of the RS Market should be visible on the homepage.

I remember sometime during 2011, the staff decided to move the market to the top of the site. A lot of people didn't like the move, and after awhile the staff decided to change it back. Then, a staff member posted that there was no significant activity increase in the market during that time. And, considering that the RuneScape section is at the top of the market, that would be the first thing they would see:



Now, I'm not entirely sure about this part, but I think it was February when the sections were moved. That was right after the release of free trade/market, so we had A LOT of activity during that time. If there wasn't a significant activity change during that time, I'm not sure one would happen now, even if it wasn't during February.

 

The problem is, Runescape Market is a bit vague. Some people might not realize the vast trading sections within this one link. By posting at least the more heavily visited areas on the front page (Gold Exchange, Accounts, User Services), people immediately realize this is the place to go.

 

Well, the descriptions do say what's inside the section. And, I don't think it's vague, where else will RuneScape related trades happen, every other section in the market is related to something else.

 

While I have no vested market interest, as a frequent user of the forums I do have a valid opinion on the organization and I agree with what Wulf has said. If you look at the index it is already packed full of sections and adding several more would not be advantageous and would cause ever more clutter than there already is.

 

Not that my opinion makes a huge difference, but I'd also like to say it may be a good idea to separate the RuneScape Market so that subforums would have more room. I can't see that it can hurt other markets as much as people seem to think. The RuneScape market is what Sythe is known for.

 

I agree because it will keep it seperate. So, it would be very nice to have it seperate to generate its own alone rep.

 

I agree. The majority of Sythe members I'm guessing would have initially come to Sythe for something Runescape related; and even more so now, Sythe, well at least for me is known for its Runescape black market. It should have priority, or be somewhat more easy-to-see and well displayed.

I never even knew what the 'other services/user services' were until I actually had someone link me to them, despite how active that section is under the Runescape section. It seems that only people that know about the existing sections tend to visit them as people often misjudge what is actually within the Runescape section.

As to the other games section I'm curious why steam Sales aren't on the front page the section is far more prominent than the diablo, wow, or swtor sections.

obviously anything related to runescape markets would be in this section...

based on the phot, the max veiwers i see is 47 i beleive it was vs the 100+ on runescape, i don't think they are missing anything.

i mean i'm not going to think oh, maybe i can get a runescape account in the wow or other games section.





i just think this is a ploy for gold sellers to get their section on the homepage.

As the support coming for this change is by most of the top gold sellers after all, and you did just happen to list that first.

as far as feedback goes i think it's fine as is, as far as a suggestion goes for doing this, no support.

 

It will obviously bring out the most used sections of the forums, whether they be gold sales or account sales. If you've been sent from the heavens to hinder the revenue of gold salesmen, at least consider the second part of my feedback, which has nothing to do with gold sales.

Going back to what you so readily disregarded, it would however benefit us in receiving new members to the Runescape Market if it was more visible to guests glancing at our sections on the homepage.

Yes. If found necessary, it can be moved under the other games to give them more exposure, but I still think it would be best if the Runescape Market category, as it is, gets moved up to a visible portion of the homepage.
