Funny thing is that back in Lord Finesse's time they used to never get samples cleared.

Mac kinda did fuck up selling the mixtape on his website, he might lose because of that and making money off tours.

$10 mill is insane though, Finesse is just hungry for money.

That's pretty crazy. As said, Mac will probably lose because of how he still made money off of it. It does seem a bit childish that he's getting sued over that considering that they had "planned on making music together." I guess he didn't give Finesse credit or for that matter ask him before taking his instrumental. I see where Finesse is coming from, but I don't think it's something to take someone to court over. Mac was an 18 year old kid at the time just trying to rap for fun.

 

And Mac is now an adult who raps for money. Reaaaallly better.

 

If you read my post, I never said it was "better." I just said that he was going over an instrumental at the time. But taking credit for the song and not giving credit to Finesse is stupid as hell. It is something that he should be sued over. You don't become famous off of other people's work.

 

didn't mac release the mixtape for free tho? i can't see a barely known white kid rapper being able to sell a mixtape online with much success. especially since before he released KIDS he was completely under the radar

It was free on Datpiff, but he was selling physical cd copy's on his website.

He most likely is going to lose the case because of that.

 

That's true but probably wont lose for that amount of money. Mac Miller didn't use the instrumental with an intent to profit from it's success. Just like any other up and coming artist, you experiment with various types of instrumentals whether they're original or not people put up verses and freestyles on mix tapes without even gaining full rights to it.

Lord Finesse is trying to sue the kid for 10 Mill, that's a completely disproportional charge especially with no criminal intent, the dudes just trying to rap and enjoy music.

 

Mac Miller will probably pay the guy 10m to shut up....and you can never really put a price on a beat because Finesse couldve got rich and famous off it like mac did.

This song hardly even contributed to Mac's success. If he folds under pressure and pays off 10mill to shut the guy up it shows a lot about his character, because no case would settle at that amount for such a petty crime.

 

I can see why Lord Finesse would be pissed and would want some credit and monetary compensation, but $10 million is just greedy and ridiculous. I hope Mac Miller doesn't get bum raped and go bankrupt over Lord Greed's lawsuit.

Well you have to consider, like some one else said, that in Lord's time they never got samples cleared before laying down a track. This is kind of silly though and he is suing because Mac got famous. If he was still selling copies off his website and rapping underground he wouldn't be suing him.

& yeah I'm wondering if mac miller is even worth much more than 10m. that celeb networth site says he's only worth 1.5m but i'm positive it's far more than that.

 

I don't logically see how Lord Finesse intends to extract 10 million from Mac Millers arse, i seriously doubt his even worth 5m, impossibru!
