How will pures be worthless due to this CoR update?

I've been told that my magic pures will be worthless once the CoR update is put into work. I'm wondering how and I know this has to do with the CoR update but I'm not aware of how due to this update? Can anyone give me their insight in this please?

 

I think because armour gives hp now, so pures are useless..., you can better make a tank/mage "pure"

 

pures will by no means be useless, they just wont be effective against non pures. Armor has health boosting properties so pures are gunna have a hell of a lot more to chip away at if they try to take on an account with any defense advantage. Also pures will not be able to find fights with people with def anyways unless they are really low level due to the way the combat level is going to be calculated (def lvl+2+the highest lvl out of atk, str, mage and range=combat for a maximum of 200) meaning a mage pure with 1 def and 99 mage would come out to lvl 102 considering most mages alch their way to 99 leaving their hp already lacking they will be killed fairly easily so i would suggest getting your atk str and range to 99 or atleast fairly high as it wouldnt effect your cbt lvl whatsoever. I however dont think this cbt lvl formula is going to stick at all...it makes no sense 2 99's shows as maxed and prayer as well as summoning arent even in the equation.. thats simply ridiculous and im sure with all the bitching surrounding it that it will be reconsidered.

Yes the new combat level calculation doesn't make sense. It disadvantages poor people that can't afford turmoil etc a lot. A big example of the have and have-nots. Also what you said about pures is very true, pures are now effectively a part of runescape culture, they will still be created and fight against each other for the fun of it, its a different experience pking on a pure than a main thats for sure.

 

Pures will always be pures. Will always verse pures.

When this update comes out, and if a pure tries to "trick" a main, they won't be able to do so, because more likely they will be "owned" by the main.

So sorry to say pures, your effective income would have been slashed by 2/3 I'd say. Bye pures. You're more effective training defence now, that's what everyone's doing.

Uggh, why is this update coming knowing it will ruin pures?

 

My 99 mage account was pretty useless on Beta, combat level 173, gets owned by level 140 mains.

 

From what i understand they wont be useless.

You choose your style of offense or defense. Obviously as a mage pure you will be attacking 100% offensively, doing more damage, but taking more damage.

 

Are they putting in this combat update for sure?

If you guys make an official poll about the evolution of combat? If a high number of players do not want the combat rework, will it be cancelled?

We feel the combat rework is the right thing for the game, however the reason we are running the beta is so that we can get the players feedback and make changes. In the first few days of the beta we have already changed several things, such as removing the cool-down on switching gear in combat. We will continue to work with the players to improve the update until we can't make it any better before it is released into the live game. If this means the beta period needs to be extended, then we will extend the beta as long as is needed.

 

Searched "pure pking on combat beta" on youtube, doesn't look that bad, for some people it might even be a buff, not nerf.

I hope they scrap the entire project but that's just me.

Pures will only fight each other mostly, so there will be some differences but lower def= lower cb so maxed pures will fight maxed pures, etc.

 

I have to disagree with you. It will be similar to the live game today where some pures do fight mains, I don't think you'll be fighting only pures like runescape today

 

Honestly no one can really say anything before the actual game comes out because its in beta not everything is going to be the same.
