    Make a donation...

The past month and a half myself and others have been trying to donate are unable to.

This is the way the currently donation center is set up:

We have two methods of donating, two inactive ways to donate.

Nick's live help is always offline and no emails are ever replied to, i tried to email him today and got no response.

This is the only future way we have of donating.

I understand people have lives outside from Sythe but one and a half way to donate is a bit ridiculous.. We're trying to contribute to Sythe and we're forced to wait? That seems like a bad business plan to me.

    It's frustrating and extremely disappointing.

I'm just wondering if there is going to be any change/additions to this or are we doomed for donating?

It's unfortunate that the users who did provide this service are inactive/temped. However they were 3rd party and Sythe isn't responsible for the upkeep of the service they provided, just wait until someone else offers A donation method because most of them do it for the community not for profit.

This is true, nor am i blaming any of them for my inability to donate. I'm frustrated that a community such as Sythe has such a "weak" donation system.

Hmmm where have all the donation methods gone? RSGP isn't really an automated system which is why it's not an official method put in place. I can offer PayPal to PayPal donations for some.

I donated 8 days ago, still waiting. It's not their fault though. I was told only Matthew can update ranks and he is away, so getting the donation bond updated is hard, and hence donations cant be processed.

But i agree, other admins should be able to apply the rank.

When i first joined we were able to donate via PayPal, etc.

I understand PayPal is not a reliable source of donating due to charge back's but there are other methods.

That is my point, we shouldn't count on one person nor one method to be able to donate.

PayPal is only available to members who have donated, I am providing a service here http://sythe.org/showthread.php?p=11175435#post11175435. There is Liberty Reserve and AlertPay which could also be added.

As for Grave, he cannot accept donations until he's got a bond with the site, which is managed by Matthew.

Without getting into too much detail, I can say this much - Matthew just moved. Getting a money order to him to re-establish a bond in order to process donations is going to be a little bit of a hassle until he gets settled.

The Black Tux, well.... He'll be back.

Nick is in the military and has other obligations he has to fulfill.

Bas (Lured Yah) - Well... Don't know what to say there.

I understand your frustration and I empathize with you, but you must realize that taking donations for sythe is also a fairly difficult process. We can't use paypal because of the risk of charge backs and (I believe?)legal issues with taking large amounts of "Donations."

Those users who are bonded by Matthew to handle RSGP donations have to keep funds in the bond in order to continue taking donations. This goes back to my earlier statement regarding Matthew having just moved. You also must take into consideration that the people handling the donations then need to try and resell the gold they're taking from you, so that the bond money isn't coming out of their own pocket. This again opens said personnel to problems such as charge backs.

I'm aware, i'm stating when i first joined PayPal was an option to donate. We shouldn't be limited to one (RSGP) method of donation.

I don't know the story behind paypal not being offered anymore, but I'm willing to bet (this is just my own speculation) that it has something to do with the account that was managing the donations being limited/shut down by Paypal.

Again, i understand people have lives and i'm not blaming any of them for not being active, unable to donate for us.

We shouldn't just have one Admin doing all the donations, there are plenty more that are extremely active; FireZ, Verts...

Why do we have only one method do donating? I understand PayPal has the risks of charge backs but there are plenty other third party banking/payment methods.

    Western Union, MoneyPak, Xoom, Moneygram....

What i was wondering was, take my situation for example:

I've donated, RSU has the RSGP, and can confirm it. Judging by Graves' vouches and his reputability here, he would be trusted by the staff to fulfil a new bond, and obviously not scam a mere $25 donation.

So my question being, why can't another Admin apply the rank, if they know the bond will be updated and the donation amount is in safe hands (Graves).

I'm assuming because they send Matthew the money order, until he receives them and can confirm, you don't get the rank. Which is another reason why RSGP shouldn't be the only method of donation.

Handling donations would require accepting the rsgp, then reselling it. It's a lengthy and troublesome process. I considered taking donations back when I was running my RSGP shop, but it would have been too much of a headache.

Instead of just throwing out names, you could potentially put this enthusiasm and drive towards looking around and helping us to find some viable options for donations, and presenting them to us.

Matthew manages all donations. He personally coded the Donation center, and he alone has the sole responsibility of managing bonds, donations, and donation ranks. I don't see this changing any time soon, if ever.

It's not "just throwing out names" they are legitimate options, options other sites/forums use for donation methods. Along with setting up something like Western Union or E-Gold we would need a system to recognize the payment and process it to automatically give the donators their paid rank (which is completely out of my comfort zone).

It's almost impossible to donate to Sythe.org at the moment, but I'm not complaining as everyone has real, busy lives just as we do also. Although, I do plan to jump to $100 donor (and $200 soon after) in the near future. As for the PP system, I get the feeling some prick has charged back and fucked the system up thus limiting it. If this has happened then I'm not sure how I'll donate (RSGP would be my last choice). If this did happen, and the PP system was reopened after, it might be a good idea to consider upping the PP donor amount to $25 or possibly even $50, for one thing $5 (or 10M) is nothing if someone wants to charge back the system intentionally, but I doubt someone would be willing to waste more money such as $25 or $50 if their only intention was to charge back.

In terms of other donation methods, how about Western Union? I remember speaking to Matthew a few months back, and he said WU wasn't really an option, but he would accept it.
Also, wasn't cash through the mail an option on the donor centre at one point?

I believe we used to have w/u + mail options as well. Not sure what happened to those but I believe those are secure methods of donating as well.

Those were always through 3rd parties too though, if I remember correctly. I wish TBT was unbanned, because that would make things so much easier. Sythe donation has never been really easy, and since they're trying to fly under the radar (Or that is how it seems, with the paypal thing) then you get TBT banned which makes it really hard. So you want to pay WU fees to send $5, it wouldn't be worth it. All the fees associated with the suggestions you made make it to where you're paying 30%+ more than what the actual donation amount is.
