    Insomnia

Hi guys. It's 4:16 in the morning where I'm at, and as you can already see by the title, I have horrible insomnia :( . I'm tired, but I can never seem to fall asleep when I really need to and I end up paying for it in the morning. My solution used to be smoking a bowl and relaxing, but I have a UA coming up for a job very soon, so I have to cut back on that. And no, it's not the marijuana withdrawal symptoms, even though they can cause insomnia. I've had it years before I started smoking. Anyway, if anybody here happens to have the same problem I do, would you mind sharing your solutions? I've tried the old myth that you should 'drink a glass of warm milk,' but that doesn't help and it's very unsatisfying. I've done countless things to potentially try to make me drowsier, though none work :noworry: .

    Insomnia

I have insomnia for a month in the past. My friends and MD suggest me to use pills, but they are helping for limited period only. So only one thing that works for me is changing the whole surroundings. I took a vacation, turn off my phone and went to quiet health resort in other country for two weeks. Different people, different places works for me.
Dont exactly know can you took a vacation or not, but its your turn to decide will it works for you or not.

Are your sleeping patterns irregular? If you get more of a strict sleeping pattern, going to sleep the same time for a week or so it should help.

Dont laugh, but when I cant sleep, I open all the windows until the point where its literally FREEZING in my room. I then wrap myself up in layers of big comfy blankets and I get knocked-out instantly. It's probably one of the best feelings ever.

I have mild insomnia sometimes. Go see your doctor, just to be safe. He will diagnose your problem and give you a more accurate answer than anyone here can. He will also, if it's serious enough, prescribe you some seriously strong sleeping pills.

When I get transient/acute insomnia, instead of spending my entire night/morning figuring ways to sleep, I just do something productive. Might as well right? Read, do homework, catch up on a television show, maybe even work out. Eventually, After like 2-3 days of no sleep, I eventually pass out, and finally my sleeping paterns return. I get transient insomnia once every 2-3 months or so.

    Insomnia

This always worked for me but tell me what to do when it's summer and there isn't that cold outside? I have an AC but it doesn't freeze my room...

    It's 6:07AM here and I can't fall asleep. I can only fall asleep after 7-8AM :/

Idk if I have insomnia but I don't think so. I just fucked up my sleeping pattern so badly that I feel really tired after 7-8AM. I don't know how to fix it. I don't want to use your thread for my problem so I am going to create my own thread asking for help.

    Insomnia

I've had intermittent insomnia almost my entire life - apparently even since I was a baby, according to my parents. Right now I am on medication unrelated to sleep problems, but it naturally helps regulate my sleep patterns and often makes me drowsy and tired when I need to be.

In the past I have tried many different things, and found a few things that seem to help. One is the natural sleep aid melatonin. It occurs naturally in your brain and is released in the dark to help trigger your body into sleep mode, and you can buy natural supplements of this chemical at any health store and most pharmacies. It has no adverse affects the way addictive sleeping pills often do, and it does not knock you out into a dreamless, restless state the way sleeping pills do. You take it 20-30 minutes before you are going to bed, and then when you lie down in the dark it just gives you body a slight boost of melatonin and it usually provides a longer, more restful sleep. It has worked for me often in the past and I try to take it whenever I can.

Another method I've used, although not great for your body, is to simply stay up one night when you are unable to sleep. Pull an all nighter, and when dawn comes just go about your day as normal. You will be extremely tired by the end of the day, but your overly fatigued body should basically crash by the next night and it will slightly reset your internal clock. This is not always successful in the long term if you have insomnia though, as it will work until you are fully rested, and then you will find yourself unable to sleep again.

The only other thing that has seemed to work for me, is to completely force my body to adjust to a exhaustive new schedule. Set a time that you want to wake up every day (for me it is 7:00 AM), and set multiple alarms. Get up every single day at your set time, no exceptions. You will be tired and groggy for a week or two as you will find yourself going many nights with very little sleep at first. But I promise, after a few weeks when your body starts to adjust, it will really help you in the long run.

I used the above method maybe 7-8 months ago, as I was staying up until 5 or 6AM every night and sleeping in until the evening. It was ridiculous. Now, for the last 7 months I've been waking up every day at 7:00 AM and I don't even need an alarm anymore :) My internal clock has just adjusted to waking up at this time every day, and as a result, I am usually finding myself getting sleepy around 10 PM onwards. It feels great to have nice long, full days again, and to get up early as the sun comes up every morning and drink my coffee :)

    Insomnia

I had a insomnia problem, what I did is just lay down in my bed and watch a episode of any show with the volume very low, after the episode is done I feel extremely tired, I then turn on a radio station on low volume and I pass out instantly.

    Insomnia

Best way I have found to combat my mild cases of insomnia is to pop a beer or two before trying to sleep. I am a lightweight, always helps a little.
