    Switching To A Macbook Pro

Hey guys, just need your advice on whether to move to a Macbook pro/Mac I have windows now but am wanting to switch because I want to developt Applications for the iphone/ipod touch and Graphics. Is it worth switching to Mac and would it play all my games?

    The Macbook I'm thinking of getting is this;
    -15 inch Model
-Intel i7 Quad Core Sandy Bridge CPU @ 2.0GHz
    -4GB DDR3 RAM
    -500GB Hard Drive 7200RPM
-NVidia 6490M dedicated graphics card with Intel 3000.

    Costing $1900 NZ = $1,526 USD

Would that be enough to run games like Bf3, League of Legends on max? and if you want to add anything else that I might need to be aware of than comment please ;)

I think you've need the excursion to such developing company for the first. Some kind of fake job searching ). The java is universal for all platforms, I think you should buy for the first some iphones/ipodes instead, because of their different compatibility.

But the editing tools are on the mac and you can only publish an application on the mac? Also I have a iPod touch.

Personally, im not an apple fan, but go for it if you want to, just dont expect amazing gaming performance. The specs on that computer could be had for $1200 if it wasnt a mac.

Macbook pros are powerful, despite what a lot of people think, they are ok for the price.

You can run windows as well on a mac, by using bootcamp.

I think you've completely missed the point that you can't play most games on a mac because the OS doesn't run them. Unless you're going to dual boot and have a windows startup, which is pointless because you may as well get a proper windows pc and forget all this mac nonsense.

With the 6490m in the macbook, you'll be able to play bf3 at high, not max, and only with about 15fps. But you're on a mac, so you can't even run the game at all.

Ultimately, you're paying for a machine that is okay for graphics and sound editing, but won't do anything for gaming.

I guess if you just wanted to play runescape (honestly who still does?) you're fine.

1.) IOS Application Development can only be done from a Mac, so thats what you want to do, then yes it is worth switching because you can't do it otherwise.

Macs are just in general for professional use, their not for gaming. I'm afraid you can't have both unless you literally buy the top notch macbook pro which is a ridiculous amount of money and might still have problems running some games, their just not built for it.

you have to choose, if you want gaming, stay on windows, if you want professional, get mac.

People on this thread are missing the point, he's not debating buying it for gaming, he's wants it to develop iOS applications and is wondering how well it would do for gaming on the side, and the simple answer is, not very well, unless your going to play older games like GTA san adreas etc.

    I personally have a 27" iMac, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, 1 TB HD, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB Graphics Card.

Rather than run Windows on a Mac to play games, run iOS on a Windows PC when you want to develop... It will save you a fuck ton of money..

And you don't need to have a Mac to make apps for apple shit.. My friend uses a $350 windows laptop and he makes bank.

Macs are pretty much shit for gaming, they overheat and most of them have wretched specs. Overpriced hardware that is incompatible with a lot of software, you're pretty much just paying for the Apple name.

    Never, don't do this.
Macs aren't these computers that will help you in gaming..
Just like everyone said this build can be sold for 50-70% of its original price.
Just sell your computer and add a few bucks to buy a windows one that is better O-o
