Need help

So my dad gave me a monitor that he claimed doesn't work, so I decided I would fool around with it.

The problem is this:

Upon start up, the monitor will flash and then go black.

The Model is a Samsung SyncMaster 943.

I haven't really tried much due to the fact that I can't do anything with the screen not working. If any of you know how to hard reset it that would help a lot.

 

What flashes on the screen?

It sounds like it could be an issue with wires inside.

If you know what you're doing and have the tools (solder and a soldering gun) you could take it apart and look for some lose wires. If you see one, re-solder it. If you don't know how to do it Google it, as it's extremely easy; it's only learning about the parts that make up devices that's difficult.

You could also see if anyone in your family (Uncles are good to ask) knows about simple wire-soldering, and see if they would take a crack at it.

You could also find a shop somewhere and ask them to fix it. If the monitor sells for more than what they charge you could make a quick profit.

 

Hard reset does not help, because its hardware issue, broken capacitors or something like that, need to check the schemes. The parts for repair will be cheap, but the work for repair may cost you the half of the current monitor's price. You should take it to repair lab and ask what it would be cost before repair. If the price of repair will be high, I suggest you to sell it on ebay.

 

If the problem is hardware and not software, you are much better off just buying a new monitor unless it's a special one of some sort.
