    Weird experience.

    Hello.
Something very odd happened to me today. I live in Holland and have a blackberry cellphone. While I was walking through my garden, my phone suddenly started playing music. Not the music I have on my phone (Hollywood undead, rise against, etc) but like old '30s and '40s music. I looked at my screen and there was no application active or anything running besides my phone just being on. It continued for several minutes (Wasn't playing complete songs, but just parts. Played a part of a song, went silent, and continued playing).
The last few seconds I could hear a man's voice (Presumably the host) saying it was Yankee Network. I just googled the Yankee Network, and found out they shut down in the 1960's. Has something like this ever happend to someone else?

That's odd. I've never heard of anything like that. Very weird.

edit - oops, i thought this was the spam forum.

Sounds pretty spooky, but i wouldn't be too worried. I'm not sure if this is possible, but maybe its a virus, or just a prank by someone over the internet, or even one of your friends.

    Just did some research.
Either my phone is haunted, someone was pulling a prank on me or it was a stray radio signal, presumably from 1960. I heard that those radio signals partially fade, but do not always dissappear completely. That could be the reason for me hearing segments of the songs.

Isn't that the kind of music the aliens make your cellphone play right before they abduct you and start sticking tubes on your kiester and extracting your man juice?

Maybe I am thinking of something else. Either way, spooky shit

...30's and 40's music is the music that aliens play before abducting? seems odd.

Now that you mention it, I did see a weird light-emitting orb a few seconds after the incident. *coughs*
Anyway, I am not afraid, I was merely interested in what could've caused it. Found it exciting.

Could simply be that some bored teen made a virus purely to fuck with people.

If you can, I highly suggest that you re-install the OS on your phone, just as a precaution. In the event that it is a virus, you don't know what else could be packaged with it.
If you have a smart phone (which you do, in a sense) and download random stuff to it, the chance of having a virus is definitely there.
If you only ever use it for calling and texting and only get your music from sources you've paid for (which I highly doubt; no one does that), then the chances are slim, but I doubt that's the case.

I doubt it was a "stray radio signal", as your phone shouldn't automatically pick it up and start playing it.

But yeah, I definitely suggest you re-install (not sure if you can with Blackberry or not) the OS. It would ensure that anything that you don't want is gone. After that just be careful where you get your music from. I won't go into too much detail for fear of getting in trouble, but ThePirateBay is usually a bad idea. Private sites like what.cd and waffles.fm are highly recommended, though you have to have connections to get in. Other than that, find a way into demonoid (easy) and download trusted stuff.
Note: Those are just possible steps. I don't condone pirating anything; you should always pay for your stuff. >.>

Bol.com. That's basically hollands' biggest electronics/games/whatever webstore. It wasn't secondhand.

Ya every time I've been abducted by aliens they usually play 30's and 40's music. Only ONCE they played something different - "Swagga by Excision."

I know someone who got a virus on their Blackberry that played some obscure soundtrack seemingly randomly. I think they had to just do a factory reset and reinstall the OS and it fixed it. I'd be careful though, if it's a virus you can't be sure what else it's doing on your phone.

I doubt that your little blackberry would be able to pick up a stray radio signal from the past, especially as far back as the 30s and 40s. You would need a massive antenna, I mean literally a couple hundred metres, to have any chance of that. Even then, the chances would be tiny. Since you would have to rely on the signal bouncing off an object in space, and then returning to earth.

I would say it's virtually impossible. Of course, there's always the crack theory that aliens could have returned the signal.
