not too bad. i'd do more with the text tho. , a gloss, border , shadow. idk.

 

I like it, but I think you should center the titles. Some of them are quite large so it seems a bit unbalanced.

Is it my problem? i think its kinda too big somehow :/
but i like the simplicity tho.

 

I experimented with outer glow and stuff like that, but it didn't really look that good. Decided just to flag it and leave it as is.

Having it in the center was my first idea but it looked a bit odd to me, not sure why.

I like how your layout colors (black+blue) match the overall theme of Sythe.org. Was this intentional or did you just randomly stumble upon those colors?

 

Nah it was unintentional. Blue is my favorite color though, and black noise looks good so I merely combined the two.

 

Lets see..
- Make the icons at the top a little smaller, they are too big.
- Add more effects to the text, although I kind of like the simplicity I feel that it is too simple.
- Add more designs in the empty space there is too much of it.
For a first this really isn't bad, I really like the sleek logo design. Keep it up!

Hmm. For the text try a bevel, drop shadow, and a gradient overlay makes it nice. But you will not get it right on the first time just fool around with the settings and experiment.
As for the empty space, its reallly your pick because not all artists have the.same taste in design. I personally would put some abstract objects in.

 

The idea is good but it lacks in some styling. Firstly i'd eliminate the black box around each segment of the thread and make it transparent whilst adding some glossiness to the edges. Secondly, i personally dislike the choice in font for the main text; maybe some lighter text like Helvetica Light? Also adding some effects to the titles of each segment, even something simple like a gradient overlay or a drop shadow. Thirdly, maybe chuck some random abstract objects or an optical flare or something. Other than those, i really like the concept and love the first segment of your thread along with a really nice logo. For a first thread i think you've done a really good job mate.

Goes over alot of effects and how to use them - personally I didn't need it but I wish it was available when I first started.
