I personally have made quite a few suggestion threads that have gained support, people said yes that's good, and then they just fell to the wayside because no one past globals really even pay attention to it.

Plus there are many things that can be done to keep things fresh. Why not try out a new banner? There was a thread about this a while ago, but nothing ever came of it. We could have a competition to make one to add some more community involvement as well.

How about a new (optional) theme? Some people would love one, and for those who don't, they don't have to use it. I guarantee that a GFX person on this site would be more than willing to do it in exchange for a rank or something of that nature.

Why don't we experiment with more sections more often? No one ever likes to try anything different because it hasn't been proven successful yet. Well we'll never know if we don't try new things.

How about playing around and testing new plugins? That could be fun for everyone, and a lot of good could come of it. For example a built-in chat room/shout box (w/e you want to call it) to help promote safe trade on the website, and I am sure there are many more that could be experimented with.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those are some of the things that could or should be done, and we need someone such as an admin to be an active part of our community to help make things happen. Again we go back to the fact that you don't have to do it, but to make the most of this forum you most certainly should.

This is another big thing as well. We never really know what the admins are thinking or planning, therefore we are all left in a state of wondering- wondering what's going to happen. For example the VB4 thing, we know its there, we know its going to happen, but we don't know when, and we don't know anything about it really. It'd be nice if we knew what our staff were thinking so we aren't left out in the dark.

    Provide specific links/examples, please.

The issue is that adding a new theme or banner can only be done by Sythe or Matthew. None of the other administrators have access to those features. Designing a new theme to make it compatible with our site would take a decent amount of time and it's questionable as to whether the outcome would really be beneficial. Would people want to participate more simply because the forums are a different color? Or would they just say "oh, that's cool" and continue using the site as much as before?

Again, be more specific. What sections do you think we're missing?

Plugins aren't something that can be played around and tested with. They open exploits for hackers and ultimately lead to site vulnerabilities. I'm not sure if you're aware, but Sythe.org is a massive target. Our users exchange tens of thousands of dollars per day.

A chat box was considered, but it would lag the site extensively, to the extend where people wouldn't want to use it. You'll see chat boxes on a lot of smaller websites but rarely on forums with a consistent 500+ active users. The same reasoning goes for other suggestions such as an arcade.

In all honestly I'm not even sure on the progress on VB4 because really it's not that big of a deal. Staff have been building up this update(probably the whole rank thing was a bad idea) when it's only going to add limited features to the site. However, an update is necessary to help make sure we have a secure forum for the foreseeable future.

Last time I checked, a new theme/banner has already been made for when VB4 arrives, which should arrive at some point. I don't know about a new theme making people use the site more, sure it would look nicer and be eye catching, but I'm not sure it would overall increase site activity.

In regards to suggestions, link some examples where no upper staff attention has really been paid attention to.

As for sections, what do you think needs to be done? The Games section has been reorganised now which had been wanted done for quite sometime, what else do you think could be added/removed/merged/changed?

As for plug ins, like Nick said above they can on many occasions open up a vulnerability or exploit to the site which hackers could use to get in and cause chaos.

As for VB4, the only thing the majority will notice is the new theme and new icons and such around the site. It will get done when Richard has the time do it, hopefully sometime in the summer.

As for the administrator's not posting around much, you have to remember all the admins are either in education, full time work or even both in situations. The Globals post around a lot, if anything they are doing a good enough job in showing upper staff activity around the site. I admit it's nice to see an admin post here and there, but they can't be on 24/7, I know every admin is on almost every day for at least one hour.

What you're doing is just trying to attack me with the most specific examples you can think of and pointing out flaws in each of those specific things. It doesn't take away from the main point I am trying to bring up: Admin's simply aren't active enough. Now you can continue to try and telling me I am "wrong" in my feelings and opinions, but what is that going to accomplish. It's another reason the only kind of feedback on this site is "You're all so awesome please don't stop being so awesome", because people act as you are when someone says something negative.

@Laptop I am not even going to respond to your post as it's obvious you're just rewording what the admins say to try and gain their favor. Please only post if you have something constructive to say.

    ?

I'm not trying to "attack" you but simply have a discussion. You've brought
up the idea of large threads gaining support and not being approved or given an explanation at least three times in a couple threads. We can't improve unless you actually share your ideas or link to examples.

You're slowly dragging me away from my point to try and find something I am wrong at so you can be like "Oh he is wrong about everything now".

But as you wish, here are some specific threads of my own, but I am sure there have been others:

    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1413241
    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1408275
    http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1401075

Although they may have received a "nod" from an admin, nothing ultimately has come of it. They are neither denied nor accepted, just sitting there, with no attention given.

Those threads were all adequately answered by both globals and admins.

Also, who's to say those things aren't being discussed in the staff lounge?

Then that brings us back to the transparency issue, how is anyone supposed to have any idea that is going on?

And besides those are just a few links I pulled out because Nick wanted "specifics".
