How to recover a hacked account?

So recently I started playing RS again in hopes of selling some money, and possibly an account or two. One of my accounts has an email linked to it but it's none that I have tried. In order to recover the account I have to have access to that email apparently. Well I searched the forums and emailed Accounthelp@jagex but they've not responded in over a week and they said they'd respond within 7 days. Also I've posted the name on the account help section of the forums for hacked accounts. Nothing has been proven useful yet. Can anyone help?

 

You need to give more info bro like... are you the original owner of the account? If not then your pretty much screwed because the real owner has recovered it. If you are the real owner then just go to the forums and post on the account recover section, trust me they reply back within hours and they will look at your I.P and everything and make sure you get your account back.

 

When you try to recover it, you should only try 3 times before being prompted for the recoveries and whatnot. Put in the earliest information you know of, even if its not the current stuff. Also, in the extra information, put the name of whoever paid for the membership, what type of payment it was, like if it was a credit card, what type (VISA, mastercard, etc). Also listing previous passwords and recoveries helps alot there as well.

 

If you guys actually knew that jagex changed the recovery method you would knows you can only recover via Registered email....if u dont know the email then u send them an email to them and they will remove the email registered to it so u can do manual recovery

 

^, The other 2 people didn't know that apparently, but as I said I've emailed them, they haven't responded and it's been 8 days. Nor have they removed the email.

 

they only generally put you on hold if they think you're not the real owner. and quite honestly from your first post I wouldn't be amazed in the least if you were not the owner of the acc your trying to recover.

From what I understand the emails get pretty swamped. Yours might have gotten lost in all that they have coming in.

Your best bet is to post in the Account Help forum, but just the main bit of it. If you time it right, you can post when a Jmod is working through the posts.

That should get you looked at a lot quicker

and yeah its been 7 days for me since i emailed them and no respond....but the first time i did email them they replied in 3 days and said they "removed and compromised info from my account"

 

Woot! Good news everyone, after posting on the forums a 2nd time I guess I caught the attention of a Jmod and they removed email and locked the account. thanks for the help anyways, this can be closed now.
