Is an iPad worth getting?

I'm wondering for those who have iPads or have tried them out before...would you say that it's worth getting? I had bought a kindle fire when it first came out thinking that I would use it a lot...turns out I got tired of it after a few weeks.

Im currently using an iPad 2 for work and think its really nifty but I'm not sure if it would be a practical tablet to use on a daily basis for classes or as a substitute for a laptop in some cases.

A ~$950 would have more power to it, but it depends. What sort of things would you be using it for?

 

What do you mean a ~950? Thats the problem...I would want to use it for classes maybe or just as a laptop substitute but I'm not sure if it would get as much use and be worth it for its price.

Was hoping to hear from some iPad users who think its worth it for them and see what they are using it for. My kindle fire is currently sitting somewhere in my drawer untouched and I haven't read more books than normal lol.

 

My brother has one, and he uses it constantly. It's pretty efficient, but if you're not going to use it a whole lot, then try checking other alternatives.

 

You can get them for a hell of a lot chaeper then 950. They are prett
y good for things like assighnments and emailing

 

Yeah, I was about to say - they start at $500 for the new iPad and even with all the expensive options added on, it's like $850 I believe.

 

I'm using my IPad 3 right now, I basically use it for everything. However, if you're going to be using it for school I would not recommend it. I bought a iPad for pleasure and a MacBook pro for school and business.

If you're using it for school I suggest a MacBook. You pay a little extra but it is the best tool.

iPads dont give you the accessibility MacBooks do, such as word, PDFs, etc.

My recommendation to you would be to spend the extra money and go with a MacBook pro, then buy an ipad for pleasure.

Do you carry it around in your bag to classes along with your laptop?

 

No I only take my laptop to class and work.

My iPad is usually used for... Sythe, Bluetooth to my Bose speaker when I'm laying out by the pool, occasionally games, when I'm on the couch or in bed and want to browse the web, 4G in the car traveling, etc!

My friend has an ipad 3 and he downloaded an app from the apple store which is free i think and you can put word documents/pdf's/excel worksheets in it.. or you can put word documents in the notes section which is pre installed

 

There are a number of apps in the iTunes app store that support those formats e.g. Apple's Pages (word), Numbers (excel) and Keynote (powerpoint), and from third-parties apps such as Document To Go Pro and QuickOffice Pro HD which support all three document types in the one app. However, these apps don't have the same accessibility laptops have, they don't allow you to do as much and don't offer the same features as MacBook Pro does.

 

If you already have a laptop, i'd say no.

 

If you have cash to blow haha. My friend has one and a laptop and mainly uses the iPad just lounging around messing with games/facebook etc. The thing about iPads is that there is no need for them if you have a laptop but they're sick to play with .

 

Ipads in my eyes are a plain waste of money. A few of my friends have them and all they really use them for is angry birds and showing people they have money.

 

If you don't use your kindle fire i doubt you will an iPad.

 

A laptop would suit you better IMO. If you want a tablet though buy the new windows surface and not an iPad it will be close to a laptop in strength with its i5 and win8 is nice for tablets

 

If you already have an IPad 2 why bother paying a huge amount of money for the next version which is pretty much the same tablet plus a few non-revolutionary features? I have the first IPad and have no urge to get a new version until they add something very new and useful.

 

He uses his ipad 2 at work he said, so im assuming he does not own it.

 

I wouldn't suggest using an iPad for work/school. A macbook would be alot easier to get stuff done.

 

I actually purchased on maybe a week ago. The new 4g model with 32 gb. Came out to I think ~900 with a case.

I have never looked back. I rarely use my laptop anymore. A lot of the times I am at school all day and a lot of my assignments are posted online as well as notes. Instead of bringing my laptop, I just bring around my iPad.

So I would say buy it, you can obviously purchase the less expensive model, or even the iPad 2 which is around 400 I think for 16gb wifi.
