Thoughts on Windows 8 and the Surface?

    My opinion: all_my_why.jpg

Everything to do with gaming on a PC has been thrown out of the window. Windows 8 is pretty much trying to make PC's tablets. Who the hell wants to use a PC as a tablet/phone? To update your facebook status? Do it on a damn phone.

For fuck sake, Microsoft. Stop trying to innovate and do what you do best.

I know Windows XP is the greatest but you really need to upgrade your desktop. C'mon now..

You should probably research Windows 8 if you're not familiar with it.

Thoughts on Windows 8 and the Surface?

Windows 8 looks great imo, I am not familiar on how it runs and some of the errors that come with it. I am not getting it right away because of some of the programs I have that would be sacrificed if I got it.

Did you read the OP? Everything you can do in Windows 8 can be done on a damn phone. You're obviously not an avid PC user.

Thoughts on Windows 8 and the Surface?

I know it is in the beta, and I know it will be like cross compatible with there tablets coming out, that's pretty much it. I planned on putting it on my desktop for sometime, but decided against it.

I have a windows 7 ultimate 64 bit that I got for my desktop when I upgraded my laptop, I just cba to install it. Maybe when I build my next desktop this summer ill put it on their.

Thoughts on Windows 8 and the Surface?

If you're going to have a tablet/touchscreen PC, then Windows 8 is perfect for you. If not, then just stick with Windows XP/7, seriously though there was nothing wrong with Windows 7, why fix something that isn't broken?

I really dislike Windows 8. It just does not work on a PC...

So with that logic, Apple should not of tried to innovate the Ipad?

This was coming. Tablet computing will become more and more popular. I was in Austin, Texas and went to work with my uncle at ARM. Mobile computing power is getting exponentially stronger and after a lunch with some of his friends at Intel, I see the market for desktops getting smaller and smaller because laptops will have similar processing power.

The use of windows 8 on surface is spectacular. When I used the 8 preview, I was using it on a desktop and at first hated the "flow" but after a week, I found it pretty smooth. STILL, you can tell immediately that 8 is meant for tablets, touchscreens, phones, and kinect support and isn't that the point of 8?

As to "Who wants to use it" it goes FAR beyond updating a facebook status. Companies to sports teams use Ipads almost all of the time and there is absolutely no real competition for a pretty large market. I think this will eliminate android from the tablet market. Great move by Microsoft but I have two questions.

    1. I see the price of the RT version similar to that of the Ipad 64GB. I see the price of the Ivy Bridged with full Windows 8 closer to the price of a laptop. Are these prices competitive without being over the top?

    2. What took so long? Me and my Uncle wondered why microsoft did not rush out a product to compete with the Ipad earlier, even if the quality and OS weren't top shelf. Could this be a good sign that they took the time to get it right?

Other thought. I think I will be looking into a way to manufacture laptops that allow interchangeable parts. Like maybe a shell of a laptop that could support different types of parts like PC's... That will become a HUGE business in the coming future.

Simple, they took long to release a tablet because they're thriving off of a beautiful mobile OS that was released recently. As they said they went to the design board looking for something that will change the way that mobile market was played and they did. They introduced simplicity, beauty and power to a field that was once ruled by junk. Don't get me wrong the iPhone is not junk, but it's also not innovating. Every mobile OS I used post touchscreens (YES EVEN DUMB PHONES) all had static icons, with a picture background. Since they found success with live tiles they expanded it into the home, the gaming world, and the professional world with tablets.

IN SHORT, it's all done AFTER WP7, because WP7 ROCKS!

I would wait for a Windows 9. It will be the first, friend-interfaced, OS based on Assembler.
It will be very fast, beleive me, 5-10 times faster than 7.
