Girlfriend is coming over

Don't worry too much, your mother will probably be delighted when you bring home a nice girl for her to chat with.

My poor mum is surrounded by a large group of boys in the house all day long, so she LOVES it whenever any of us bring home a nice girl. Then she has somebody to talk with, go shopping with etc. :laugh:

 

I've been checking this thread all day, i want to know how it went. Be sure to keep us updated after she leaves!!

 

Everything went great.

We did a lot of talking and we watched a movie. I got that kiss at the end of the day too.

Only bad thing is that her mom said she had to be back by 6. We were both sad to see the time come.
All in all I can't wait for the next time!

 

Ahhhh!! That is so exciting, Zerker and I were just talking about this! I'm so glad everything went good for you, and who cares if she has to be home by 6:00, if you get her back on time it shows her mom you have respect and earns trust with her, plus theres a always tomorrow!

Yeah, I hope so; I haven't met her yet, but I'm hoping she starts to like me/trust me once she actually talks to me.

And we watched Snow White and the Huntsman; she had been wanting to see it.

Her dad already hates me (Facebook stalked me and discovered that I'm an atheist), don't need her mom hating me too. At least her dad lives about an hour away.

 

The more you be yourself, the more she'll be attracted to you. Unless of course you guys have nothing in common.

Don't worry about her Dad too much by the way... I have enough dating experience to tell you that Dads are often a little hesitant/suspicious of their daughter's boyfriends at first. In the end, they just want the best for their daughters and so earning her Dad's trust and respect will take some time. But you seem like a really good kid and I'm sure you are capable to earning it!

Just always be polite and respectful, get her home on time, make conversation with her Dad & try to find out his interests so that you have something to talk with him about. It is also a good idea to not spend too much time alone in her room with the door closed or to crash at her place right away. I can tell you first hand that Dads fucking HATE THAT, and while you are cranking his daughter late at night you might think he is asleep when actually he is lying their awake listening to every sound, fantasizing about strangling you. I'm just kidding, but seriously, it is better to look and not touch too much at first when you are around her father.

Disliking someone because they're religious views is ignorant and he if chooses not to like you then you can live on knowing you're more mature then a adult!

And yeah, I know what you mean. My last girlfriend's dad was in the Marines and was extremely defensive over his daughter. All it took was a little hand-holding or a kiss to make him hate me.

And yeah, I know it is, but some people are defensive over their beliefs. A lot of people have a negative image of "atheist" in their minds.

 

That is true, and it is sad really. Other people who are strongly religious are much different, and they respect an atheist but instead become a little pushy with their beliefs. (like they are respectful towards you, but will take every opportunity to try and convert you )

If you can maybe win over her father's respect and get to a point where you guys can actually discuss religion, and you listen attentively to him talk about his beliefs, maybe that will get you somewhere I know from experience (my mother is a heavy Christian) that people with heavy religious views love nothing more than to discuss their religions with others and try to teach them their beliefs. Maybe with some time, her father will get accustomed you having you around and will actually come to like you. And as long as you respect his daughter and respect his views, then things should be fine.

My ex-girlfriend's parents were Christians as well and regular church-goers. I know at first I felt her Dad disliked me because of my past and some of the things I was involved in, but over time I feel I won a fair amount of respect from him and even went to Church with her family once in awhile on special occasions. That meant a lot to them.

 

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply; I haven't been on Sythe at all. (Been too swamped to be completely honest.)

I'm hoping that her dad truly doesn't mind much, and doesn't bring it up. If he does I'm prepared and am by no means going to attempt to shake him of his belief. (Which is honestly quite rare for me, but this definitely isn't the best scenario for it.)
I'll be as nice about it and support his beliefs as much as it takes, just subtly letting him know I don't share his belief. (Not sure 100% how I'll do that, but I'll try; I'm gonna make it sound like I believe his view is equally valid and I'm not totally against it.)
I'm not even sure how long it will be until I meet her dad though, as she only sees him like (every other?) weekend.


And an update in case anyone's interested:
We haven't had any chances to hang out since the day that this thread is focused on (I've been really busy with work and side projects that I've been doing to keep gas in my tank), and when I wasn't busy, she was.

We found an opening though, and yesterday we both went to see Ted together. Her friend (who she's always with, so that explains why she knew about it), sort of invited herself, but I didn't complain too much.
Though I'd never say such a thing, I don't feel like she has the most friends, and she has a more negative outlook on life than most. (Mainly because of guys rejecting her.) Because of that I agreed to letting her go, and it turned out to be for the best, in my opinion. (It really helped to spark conversations and helped keep conversations going.)

We hadn't talked about plans after the movie, and I had assumed I would just drop them off and head home, as they already had planned on her friend staying the night. I had been trying to work out a plan to stay at a friends house for a while because my mother and I are really not getting along, and I wasn't having much luck. (I have this entire week off of work so it was a good time to get away.)
She knew this as I briefly mentioned it when things got really bad between us (though I try not to talk about my problems too much), and she insisted that I go home with her for a while, and I definitely didn't argue.

I met her mom and we got along great (as far as I can tell that is), and her animals love me now. (Her mom wasn't around most of the time by the way.)
We talked and hung out for what felt like a brief moment, and before I knew it it was midnight, so I headed home. My mom was asleep (thank god) so I quietly did my insanity workout and went to bed.

All in all a pretty good day ;p

Plus today I woke up after my mom left for work so I haven't had to see her yet, and I've actually had some time to post on forums and work on stuff I haven't had time for. (Movie script, website for a client, and familiarizing myself with integrating MySQL with Java.)
