Recovery System Has Changed

The recovery system was recently updated, finally. They're now making the email function the only method of recovering, the manual form will no longer come up to reduce the latest strings of phishing, and hacking. We all saw this coming, it was buzzed around the moderator forum for quite a bit, but no one really knew if it was true. This is great news for account buyers, now it's even more secure to buy/trade accounts. If the previous owner changes the email to yours and your email is kept secure, it should be impossible for them to recovery. Happy Trading!

Why would this be bad, I knew about this for a while. I'm a player moderator, but check for yourself, try recovering an account without the email and tell me how that goes.

 

Yes the new system has come in but if you email jagex they will look and remove the email and send you a manual recovery form happened to me today.

I have taken the time to investigate the account and I can confirm that it does appear to have been accessed by a third party. I have now locked the account and removed the email address that the hijacker set. To recover the account, you just need to use our Account Appeal System following the instructions below:

• Type your username.
• Fill out the Appeal Form in as much detail as possible, then click 'Send to Jagex'.

The information we may need includes early passwords, billing details (if you have ever been a member), contact information and recovery answers. If you did not set any recovery questions, you can choose the option marked 'I did not set any recovery questions'.

As an additional security measure, I have gone through all the account information and have removed anything that I believe to be compromised. This will prevent this third party from using this information in the future to access the account.

^^If you email jagex at [email protected] and say your account has been accessed by a 3rd party and to remove the email, they will check the IP's and then remove it and change it to yours/

 

However that's only if there was a 3rd party. If you take careful trading precautions, email JaGex that you're moving to this I.P, all could be done using an (OMM), trading would be 99.9% safer right?

 

No because if they see an appeal from the original IP they will persume the email got hacked also...

Thats another thing to look at. It will be just as easy to recover, but just more time consuming as you have to wait for a reply from Jagex

 

At the same time it's a bad idea because if you're keylogged then then the hacker probably knows your e-mail info as well and that means you can lose your account for good.
