    Height and intelligence?

Do you believe there is a link between height and intelligence? Are taller people generally more intelligent than shorter people? In your own circle of friends, do you notice that your taller friends are smarter than your shorter friends?

What are your views on this subject?

    Height and intelligence?

No, the two are irrelevant. That is kind of like saying bald people have longer fingers because they are bald. Two completely irrelevant subjects.

    Height and intelligence?

The correlation is weak, but statistically seems to hold true. In advanced mathematics and Physics University courses I took out of hundreds of people I met there was only one person I met who was shorter than average height, barely so at that. He also had exceptionally intelligent parents who fostered his intelligence from birth. The average male was over 6' and the average female was over 5'8 which is taller than average by quite a bit.

    Height and intelligence?

Thats quite interesting. I am in advanced classes at school and I can't really say that this correlation is true (this is just based on my classes) and I am one of the tallest in it at 6,2. So many are between 5,10-6 feet

    Height and intelligence?

Absolutely not. Any statistical correlation would most likely be a coincidence.

Nope, I don't think theres a link. One of the tallest people I know is a total muppet, and one of the smallest people I know is an absolute genius. There is nothing that he is bad at.

Who knows if they're actually related or not... humans are complicated. Maybe one day all of these questions will be given a definite answer.

I'm not sure about intelligence, but I believe tall people are more successful in general.

So yes, the intelligent thing to do here would be to stretch your body out, folks. =]

    Height and intelligence?

"The correlation between the two factors is therefore weak, although statistically significant."

Two qualities having a correlation does not imply that they have a direct cause and effect relationship.

    Height and intelligence?

As jimmy says, correlation doesn't mean causation. There can be a weak association between the two, but there's so many other confounding variables that can affect both height and intelligence (ethnicity, gender, etc). Come on guys, take some statistics class. ^_^

That's like saying selling less ice cream will decrease violence. But in reality, temperature acts as a confounding variable since more murders/violence happens during the summer (when people buy more ice cream) - Freakaonomics.

    Height and intelligence?

There is definitely no correlation between height & intelligence. I know many short people who are smart as hell, and many tall people who are practically brain dead.

    Height and intelligence?

I have read an article that says that height is correlated with success when it comes to caucasian/males. There was some study done and the article was published somewhere on Forbes, but basically - the average height of CEOs (who were caucasian/males) were 2-3 inches taller than the average height of males in the U.S. I think they ran some logistic regression models on it/see if it was significant, and stuff like that too.

It could just be one of those intrinsic prejudices that people have; hire a tall successful-looking CEO rather than a short fat midget.

Why is it statistically significant? Just because two graphs of the data show a correlation, doesn't mean they have anything to do with each other.. please elaborate how height has anything to do with intelligence.

    Height and intelligence?

I'm considered the smartest kid in school, and I'm only 5'8'', my friend on the other hand is not very bright and is around 6'2''.

That's just from personal experience though. :p

I actually find the opposite to be completely true. In my school and own group of friends, the shorter people tend to be the smartest
