Suggest me a horror movie?

So I am a huge horror movie buff. I have seen pretty much every horror movie that I have come across and love them! I like pretty much all types of horror movies and thrillers, except I have a hard time getting into some of the older ones, like earlier then 1970s.

What are some of your favorite horror movies? Any horror movie you think you can suggest that you think will actually scare me? Also, I am not a huge fan of foreign horror movies, but have watched a few of Takashii Miike's stuff.

Feel free to mention mainstream ones, but chances are I have probably seen it.

I have seen the first two paranormal activities and didn't really care for that type of horror movie, they were ok.

I haven't seen the crazies, have been meaning to watch it a few different times.

Are you talking about George A Romero's old one (1973) or the remake (2010)? I was going to give the remake a shot, but didn't know if I should watch Romero's first or what would be the best order to watch them in.

 

If you like gory horror films, I'd have to suggest something like Saw without a doubt. It's a brilliant film.

 

You want a film which is banned all over the world and is so prolific you'll be sick?

A Serbian Film - Search it.

 

I have seen a Serbian film, to me it was horrible and was made for peer shock value, the story was dumb and pointless. I would equate this to something like Faces of Death, except it is fake. One that is even worse, the worst film that I have seen in my life is Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, and I don't suggest you try to look for it.

I have seen the Saw series and liked most of them, the last few being a bit too much and seeming like they just wanted to milk more money by bringing out new films.

 

Cannibal Holocaust, Antichrist, of course you gotta throw in the Human Centipede movies, Eraserhead (Any Lynch films really), The Machinist, Event Horizon, and I have a lot more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

I watched a cool british horror movie the other day called "Spiderhole", about a group of teenagers that decide to go squat in an abandoned house for a couple of nights. The experience soon takes a terrifying turn when they realize a deeply evil presence lives in the house and has trapped them inside, and is picking them off one by one. I enjoyed it

Also, I know you said you don't like horror films, but I thought both of these films of the "found footage" genre were pretty awesome and deserve to be checked out:

REC - The original (and better) version of the film 'Quarantine':



Atrocious - 37 hours of footage found on a video camera found at the scene of a grisly and horrific murder:



^ I'm normally not a huge fan of the "found footage" genre, because stupid American films like Paranormal Activity have ruined them for me. But these foreign versions of this genre of film are quite good in my opinion, and I really enjoyed them!

Another film called "The Shrine" that I found on Netflix a couple of months ago and thought was pretty decent:



There are loads more horror films that I know, some that are really, really good, but for some reason I can't think of them off the top of my head right now I will post back when I think of some more suggestions.

 

Could you list some of the ones that you've already seen? That way I don't suggest the same ones

 

Not sure how into zombie movies you are, and as you said, good foreign horror films are hard to come across. But have you ever heard of Lucio Fulci? He is my favorite foreign director, and has created a movie called City of the Living Dead, which is by far the goriest and most intense zombie movie I have seen to date. Definitely give it a try.

Also Japan and the Nordic countries (Finland, Estonia, and such) have great scary movies.

 

Look up "Coming Soon", it's a Thai horror movie. I'd give it like, an 8/10 for horror

It is not quite a horror movie, but American Psycho is pretty good if you enjoy a good mind fuck Another, I guess thriller, would be Cry Wolf. I love the ending! Both movies come highly recommended from me

 

I don't like horror movies, but Insidious was pretty good, had me scared a couple times.

 

Nightmare on Elm Street

 

This isn't really a horror movie, but if you like suspense/thrillers then watch "Don't Look Now" (1973). That's first movie I've seen in a long time that legitly gave me a nightmare after going to sleep the night I watched it; really good suspense all throughout the film.

Another good movie that's more on the horror side is "A Tale of Two Sisters". It's nothing too gorey, and it's a mindfuck ending
