Best Open World/Sandbox game?

You can name one that is out or coming out in the near future. Right now I think its GTA IV for me even though it has horrible PC optimization. Looking forward to GTA V.

 

Minecraft is the ultimate free-roaming open world, XBLA game "Dust" or "From Dust"-- idk which-- is a great sandbox game, elder scrolls (morrowwind being the best thus far) is a great open world, and the PC SDK is a good sandbox experience.

 

Best Open World/Sandbox game for me would have to be Fallout 3 by far, I've had so many good times on that game. Also, I'm planning on downloading minecraft once I get a new hard drive for my xbox, from what I've seen, it looks like a lot of fun.

 

I'd have to say minecraft is probably the best sandbox game by far.

 

Garry's Mod is kick ass. The first Assassin's Creed was a great game to just run around in and any GTA game is.

 

Never really got a chance to try out garry's mod. Will have to set some time aside in the future to do so =)

I'd go with Garry's Mod also.

 

I'd probably say The Sabotuer. Rediculous amount of things to do... It's pretty overlooked in my opinion. Garry's Mod is a plus for me, too.

 

GTA SA is best sandbox
