I think that you should try not to think about the money for a while. It will always be there, but right now you should do your best to be there for yourself, your father, and your grandmother as well as others who may be grieving.

As great as it would be to inherit $4 million dollars, you can never put a price on a human life. I don't blame you for being sad, and I think you should have as much time as you need to mourn the loss of your grandfather.

You should realize though, that your grandfather left your family a ton of money in his will because he would have wanted you guys to have it, and to use it to improve the quality of your lives. Consider it a final parting gift that he has left you

Never had any grandads, so I feel your loss. Grandparents day always sucked for me. Sat crying in the bathroom. To me it'd always be life>money. I'm not saying it's wrong to be happy about the money but it's totally normal to still be sad. Money is just money.

 

Have your dad bank the money in different banks and obviously put some in your familys primary account but forget about it and let intirest go up on it. I'm very sorry for your loss, and i hope the money issue dosnt cause problems within your family because things like that destroy familys sometimes :/

Be happy. Now you have college paid off, your parents are set for life possibly. You and your siblings will get some new stuff. At the same time be thankful that you've received that and make sure when you think of your grandfather you think of the person he was, not that he left you $4,000,000.

It is completely normal to be sad. Money is money. It's just material. You can't have your granddad back but you can always get money back. Sometimes, money does destroy families and sorry there seems to be money issues between your uncle and dad. Just be glad for what he left you. May your granddad rest in peace.

 

My thoughts on this.

You did not inherit 4 mil. Your family did which will be split up I bet to others. Either way I feel it's rather selfish of you to be going crazy over money when your grandfather just died. I have very little to my name right now but I am still happy and money doesn't bring him back nor does it make a person happy.

I believe you might be a little young to get that money isn't everything. It might change your quality of life and help you go to college but it's not like your dads gonna spend $300k on a Lamborghini.

 

Depending on how well you knew him, you will get over it sooner or later as my grandma died 5 months ago. But think about it! 4M!?!? That is a LOT of money!

 

I hate it when money comes in between friendships which is why I'm okay if someone forget to pay me back (but I'll remember for the next time if they ask for a lend or something).

It's even worse if it's driving your family apart. I can understand that money is a motivator for many things (work/getting nice things), but some things...money can't buy. As cliche as it sounds, you can be so much happier spending time with friends and family than working overtime and making double your normal salary. Same goes for the inheritance; hope everything gets worked out.

 

Mm Money truly cannot purchase happiness. It can however improve your future so there is a silver lining to the situation, regardless of how small it seems now.

It does suck to see loved ones go if you want to make your grandpa happy perhaps ask ur dad to put a portion of the money to support something your grandpa felt strongly about I'm sure he would have really liked that. Also your a multi millionaires son not just a millionaire.

 

You shouldn't be happy for his death but happy that he was successful enough to leave your father with that money. I am sorry for your loss and hopefully you guys spend it wisely.

 

Death isn't usually a happy occasion, even if money is envolved. I'd say that the money that your father got is totally under his control. Please don't let this money change the way you think, act, or behave.
