Evolution of Combat and How it Will Affect Staking

So with the new Evolution of Combat coming soon, there has been talks of new abilities and ways to fight. How do you guys think this will effect boxing, rapier/CLS, mage boxing, and range boxing stakes? Personally I hope it doesn't effect it at all, but knowing Jagex they'll probably fuck it up. Leave your input on what you think is going to happen. Will it stay the same or will it change from pure luck to skill?

 

It will surely affect staking. After the combat update, it requires skills to win rather than pure luck.

You will be able to do much more rather that switching attack styles.

 

I think it has potential to bring back staking and make pking as fun as it was on rsc but I just hate the fact we're slowly turning into wowscape jagex needs to think out of the box or re hire andrew gower to do it for them.

 

I definitely think this will have a huge impact on both staking and PKing, and will make them more skill-oriented rather than pure luck like it is right now.

Either way, it is going to be interesting. I just pray they don't butcher this one, as this update has potential to be pretty dang awesome. ^_^

 

The beta wouldn't change staking. I'm assuming the beta system will be completely dependent from the game. Expect at least 6 months turn around for the system to be implemented into the actual game.

 

But staking is already about skill..... People make staking specific accounts, which turns out those accounts are the exact same combat level as other accounts. So instead of being pure luck, staking is all skill. There will always be one person with higher defence, higher strength, higher attack, and always someone who either has staked longer an knows more or someone that cheats with the weapons.

I have a maxed mage boxer. It is level 98 with 99 def, hp, and mage. I make every 110+ x2 my stake because they believe I am lower and they can win. Now granted they are mostly mains so they aren't maxed, I naturally win because I have the higher skill and know more about mbing...

So I think the combat change will take away the skill (as in take away the maxed low level specific accounts ability to always win) and completely remove the sense of luck. It is all just a matter of who knows how to use the abilities of new combat better than the other person.

Just my take on it.

The staking options in the duel arena have been updated to support the combat rework.

Don't worry, boxing is not going anywhere



Actually i wish that Boxing, rapier, whip or anything else will require skill to win!!
Like in other MMOs even with lower tier Armour you can take out someone less skilled.

 

everything will generally be the same, I don't think they will make too many changes. As to the additional abilities you will be able to turn them off

 

I wonder if under duel settings if there will be the option to turn combat update off and just revert back to luck battles. That would probably be a good idea.

 

I don't want to even think about it, the update is going to change everything.
