[POLL] Would you go to the movies alone?

Scenario: There's a movie playing in the theaters that you really wanna watch, the catch is : you've no one to go with.
Would you watch it alone? Or would it be far too embarrassing?
Imagine the look on the ticketing lady's face when you say 'Ticket for one please'.
Or the look people give you when they see you surrounded by empty seats.
Personally, I'd like to go to the movies alone because I've always seen them as a personal activity. Haven't done it though, largely due to the above. Why the stereotype?

 

Well I hate movie theaters and I hate watching movies alone so uuuum no....

 

I'd much rather watch a movie at home regardless of whether I'm with someone or not.

If I'm really wanting to watch a movie in theaters, I'd ask my friends first. But, sometimes they're busy, and usually go with a family member. If I have no one to go with, I just wait until it's out on blu ray so I can watch it in extremely high definition with surround sound .

 

Going to the movies alone is like playing golf alone.. for those of you who don't play golf, it's 10000% less enjoyable alone.. so the movies would be the same way.. it'd be kinda awkward as well to sit by yourself and 1 seat in between you and other people on both sides.. you'd look retarded..

 

If I had no one to go with and I really wanted to see the movie? Sure, I've done it a few times when I've been out of town and I really wanted to go to a show when it first came out.

 

Depends if it is a movie I really want to see..
But most likely no I would not, I am very self-conscious.

Why not? It's not like people are going to laugh at you if you're by yourself. The damn theater is pitch black anyways.

 

I've done it before, I'll do it again. Not really weird. If I want to see the movie I'll go see the damn movie!

 

Yes? What's wrong with going on your own, sometimes people want to do things themselves.

 

very nice feedback, i think i might go to the movies on my own sometime to try it out then
for those of you who say that you wouldn't go by yourself, is it because you legit would not enjoy it on your own, or because your scared of what people might think?
or is it both, where you can't enjoy yourself because your so bothered by what people think of you?

I hate people, my gf is annoying during movies and my daughter just trys to run around...

I used to go to the movies alone all the time when I lived in Toronto. I would get really high and see a movie.

 

I rarely go to the movies anymore. It's too expensive and I would rather just wait and watch it at home. I've always gone to the movies with at least one other person, but I don't mind going alone if it's something I really want to see. I went to the movies once by myself. My friends fell through at the last minute, so I just went anyways because I was already there and wanted to see it. Yeah it's not as fun, but it's not a big deal either.

 

I go alone most of the time when I go to the movies. In fact, I just went Monday alone to the movies. Very rarely will I go see a movie with a friend. If I go and see a movie with someone, it's usually either a date or my dad (kind of our "bonding" time). There's really only certain people that I don't mind going to the movies with. They're quiet and just enjoy the movie and don't make comments. Overall, though, I just generally like being alone when I watch a movie.

I see no problem going to a movie alone, but personally I would never do so.

 

I only go to the cinema if i am going with my mates tbh when your going to watch a film your gonna want to share your experience with others
