Cheteer's going to Amsterdam!

Hello my fellow Sythers.
Yesterday I booked a trip to Amsterdam 1 - 6 July. Really looking forward to it. Been wanting to go there for a long time. Gonna enjoy the liberal culture to the max! ^_^
Now I need some help from you guys so that I don't miss out on something you just have to do in Amsterdam. Already planned to visit a shitload of coffeshops and the Heineken museum and of course a trip to red light district. Don't know yet if I'm gonna pay for a lady but at least I want to see it.
Anyone have any suggestions? And if you want to recommend some specific coffeshop it's gladly appreciated. Barneys Lounge is very close to my hotel so I was planning to start with that after we've checked in to the hotel.
Perhaps you even live in Amsterdam and wants to share a spliff with me or just show me and my friend around town? I would be happy to arrange that if anyone's interested. Love to meet people from other countries and cultures

Well, I'm mostly going there to enjoy a chill vacation so hopefully my amsterdam trip will be full of nice people, nice weather, good food and of course good weed

 

I don't actually live in Amsterdam as much as I live near it.
It's a $5 trip for me. (lol)

I have only gone to Amsterdam 'bout a dozen times and never really remember what happened.
What I do know is that the "Lemon Haze" from coffeeshop "De Tweede Kamer" is the bees knees and everyone always speaks highly of it.
Deffinitely worth a shot.

I don't really know what kinda person you are and what music you like but I'm sure that somewhere there will be a party you can attend and you will actually like.

Too bad you don't live there, it would be fun to hang out with some locals I'm not a very big fan of touristy stuff.

 

If you're not from the Netherlands, I'm sorry to burst your bubble. They banned tourists from buying marijuana from coffee shops just this year.

You can smoke as a tourist in Amsterdam, already checked on that.

 

I'm just stating that you can't buy it. But, I do understand that you can smoke it :laugh: . I doubt it'll be that hard to find. It's fucking Amsterdam !

I don't know too much about Amsterdam, but I would highly suggest checking out some of the souvenir shops and cafes. One of my friends went there 2 years ago and she brought me back some wicked souvenirs and paraphernalia for me and my roommates.

One item she brought back was this little thing model of a vacuum cleaner, and the handle or stem part of the vacuum was actually hollow like a straw, with a little opening at the bottom of the vacuum. It was meant entirely for snorting drugs lol, and she brought it back with a big colour photograph of the display she found it on - a mirror with a bunch of fake lines of blow with these vacuum things at the base. It wasn't actually all that great for actually snorting anything, but I thought the concept was hilarious :laugh:

I'm not sure whether you are a pot smoker/drug user or not, and if not that is completely fine. But if you are or have any friends back home who do, you can find some extremely interesting things in the shops in Amsterdam that you cannot get back home in Canada or the United States.

I really hope you have a good trip though man. Going to Amsterdam would be quite an experience

Hey Cheeter, long time no see. Just typed out a long response then accidentally closed the page. Bloody Hell! So a shorter summary this time.

I went to Amsterdam in April. It was brilliant, but it has to be said that it's not the most exciting place to be in during the day - it's all about the night! I went to a load of fantastic coffee shops, it's a shame I can't remember their names. There are loads of them, though, so don't settle for anything that seems too expensive or a bit shit. Walk a few streets further and you're guaranteed to find something better. As for other things to do, I'd recommend the sex museum for something to do in the day if you get bored... and make sure you give space cakes a go!

Has only been implemented in certain areas of the Netherlands thus far. Although it will come into effect in Amsterdam eventually, tourists are still good to go for now, provided they have ID and are 18+, as they are stringent about that. Your average spliff is about €3-€4 when bought in the coffee shops.

Simply not true. It is only in the Southern provinces (where I now live) that tourists cannot buy weed. I have a weedpass so it is all good.

Cheeter you must! and I mean must! Visit Voyagers coffeeshop it is great! The strawberry diesel is amazing it tastes like strawberries and diesel and will knock you off your ass .

Also, if you want to sample some cannabis cup winners then Voyagers has a strain called Starbud which has won a few cups and is very nice as well.

 

I know they smoke a lot of weed!

But I did go to De Tweede Kamer as recommended earlier and tried their lemon haze. Pretty good smoke but I had smoked a few spliffs earlier that day when I smoked it so it was hard to determin it's effects. But I got pretty stoned can't deny that
The trip was nice and of course I forgot to take pictures... Well be back with picures in a day or two
