    Help with a new computer

Hey, so i'm gonna buy a new computer soon and i'm not sure whether to get a laptop or a desktop. I know there's lots of these threads and i'm probably going to stick with a desktop but i need some help choosing one. Anyone know any good desktops? I'll be using it for gaming a little bit, but mainly just runescape, botting and general use. If you can recommend a good laptop then i'll get that because i'd prefer one but i know desktops are better.
Budget of around $750-$800 and i live in australia, which means no newegg :(

I'm currently building a desktop off of Amazon right now, and it's more than capable of doing what you need. If you're interested I can give you the parts list, as far as I know Amazon does ship to Austrailia, but at increased shipping rates I'm pretty sure.

Thanks that'd be really helpful :) although I probably won't be building my own desktop (to hard for me :p) it'd be interesting to see what I should look for in one.

Building isn't hard at all, the only hard part is getting a parts list together.

I can make a parts list for you if you give me a price range. Pm me...if you want

I built my own computer for x-mass super simple it seems hard when you first look at it, but if you can plug your cell phone into a charger its just as easy as that. You just screw the mobo to the case, then plug some wires in for the most part. There are tons of videos on youtube.

I helped Champion out learning some things. It will be fun any maybe take an hour to do, plus you have a community here that will answer all of your questions. Lol knowing how easy it is to build one, its hard for me to recommend a pre-built for you. I say go for it, your saving money, getting better performance, and learning about computers. I also would be more than willing to help you with anything you need.

Most Amazon products do NOT ship to Australia.

    OT;
Whereabouts in Australia are you? There's a few PC shops(scorptech, MSY to name 2.) that build custom desktops. :)

    Help with a new computer

I've been doing some thinking and i don't really think i need to build a desktop. I only need one that can bot rs well and do just general things. So i've kind of been leaning towards a laptop for the portability and the fact that i can get one that could do what i want for not that much more than a desktop. Thanks a lot for offering your help though, you don't even know me so that's really nice of you :)

I'm in Albany wa, pretty small place. I doubt there's a shop that'll custom build me a desktop :p
That's a really helpful video, thanks for posting!

I've decided a laptop would suit me better because of the portability and me not being that big of a gamer. Can anyone recommend any laptops that i could bot well on rs with, and just generally use?
Hows this laptop http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC7998/asus-a53sd-sx609v-notebook-white although i don't really want to spend that much.
    Thanks a lot :)

I was going to offer to meet up and I could build it for you etc. but since I'm in sydney and you're in WA tough luck there :p

Use pccasegear, or find an MSY and just work off a good premade build ala this site: (http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs_gaming_configs_1 is excellent, breaks it up into price ranges and parts you need for each).

If you don't build it yourself, you're basically robbing your own wallet and missing out on performance.

    Yea not exactly close ;p
I've heard good things about pccasegear, so I might take a look there.
And thanks a lot for that site link, it's actually very helpful, I can believe I've never seen it before

After continuous research I've discovered that this is very true :p I'm probably going to be building my own now :)

Like everyone's saying here, building your own desktop is the best option. Laptop's aren't built for botting. Not to mention laptops have terrible lifespans for the common runescape player.

I can suggest you only one - buy a laptop with a fully integrated in CPU Video Card, which is mean that it will be i5,i7 INTEL or A6,A8 AMD. I5,I7 - more powerful, but have a small videocard within if your objective is to play.
I am suggesting this because the first and ever error with all of laptops is OVERheating the mobo chipset with video that makes the laptop a piece of garbage.
