    Food For Intellectual Thought..

If anyone has ever seen the matrix this might seem vaguely familiar to you. sometime in the next 50 years if computing growth stays how it has been, then in this timeframe there will be a computer with enough computing strength, it could simulate the brain strength of every single human on earth. so basically everything we are, everything we see, hear, touch, think, could be a simulation. this could all be without us ever knowing. before you post "y u say dis u crazy dis imposibrul" actually think for a second about what is actually "possible". think of it like the sims, but on a much grander scale. what are your thought on this, i would like to hear. will be posting more stuff like this soon, usually the type of threads that make you question reality and all that comes with it.

it is quite weird to think about, the most weird thing about it is that it's completely possible, and that means it could be happening right now, you could be being watched by the people who are controlling the simulation, or watching over it. at this very moment, or maybe you're not...? we can't really know until we really know.

Bullshit doesn't make one question reality.

According to Moore's Law computing processing power will double ever 18 months, so there are plenty of fast computers. This is a huge debate in AI theory right now and is what is known as a Technological Singularity where human and computer thought becomes on.

You should read up on something called the Chinese Room. It's really interesting.

You're too afraid to admit everything in your life is the biggest lie you'll ever know. And when you accept and understand that, you'll be set.

After much thinking... You do bring a very scary possibility. What if there's a supercomputer out there controlling and processing all the matrix happening here.

And we can somehow get hold and control of that supercomputer and totally re-write the laws of physics, delete some protons and neutrons in the process and even "copy and paste" Planet Earth. :p

When that happens, we are screwed man. Too complex.

Slight spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't seen the Matrix (honestly, you deserve the spoiler if you haven't seen it yet).

Ignorance is bliss. I'm just thinking of that guy in the film who tried to make a deal with agent Smith (remember the restaurant scene in which he's eating a piece of meat and comments how the matrix knows how to simulate the exact tastes so it seems real) that he would agree to forget about knowing reality and be reborn as someone rich and powerful who is just another slave to the illusion.

I believe most people would happily do the same, and just be content to follow the system without so much as a side thought about it. And if they ever did think against it - unplug them before they cause havoc. Genius idea really; the robots would have quite an efficient process on their hands (or circuits?).

Definitely scary stuff but yet so intriguing.

Re-Write laws? That's stupid. Anything that will every exist is already here. Discovered or not. Physics doesn't even matter anyway

edit: I think The Matrix was going for the "Rabbit Hole" idea.. Kinda like Alice in Wonderland. Same shit. When you go down the rabbit hole IRL.. Some people go insane. But if you take the Red Pill, and come out sane.. Very beneficial

When you decided to cobble together a half-intelligent statement or provide something that isn't pure bullshit then you might make some headway, but until then I still confirm the idea that you add nothing to an intelligent argument. Cut back on the weed and you might be able to make a partially sensible statement.

It's an interesting concept, but it leads back to the metaphysical arguments like: If no one looks at the moon is it really there? What is reality? is reality what you make it or is reality set?

The thing is that if you go around in life questioning everything and acting like a paranoid schitzo you're not going to enjoy life. If I am looking over my shoulder every where I go and I am constantly wondering what is real then you're living in fear. Philip K. Dick covers this in a lot of his work, and makes a lot of amazing points about what is reality.
