Been a way for a while (years)

Used to be a huge nexus fan (rsbots.net, etc.)
Apparently anything with reflection has been legally taken down.
I READ THE STICKIES and looked at links.
Without unnecessary heavy-duty digging, I have still yet to to find the following info which I hope you can help me out with:
-are any of the 'new' type of bots any good? or are they like barely functioning, poor coding, take hours of debugging and interface work to figure out
-which are paid which are free? Are the paid ones far better than the free or about even?
-so is boting pretty much dead? is the banrate really high?
-which of these stickied bots is the best and which is the worst? simba seems to have a lot of praise but it looks like the best 'free' bot and i usually stray away from free stuff (bad coding, etc)

- No simba is good. No it's really low. No bans for me in 2012 yet. Have not heard of many either.
- Simba is the best IMO. All bots are very safe atm, except for some goldfarmer scripts.

No there are some good bots. Simba is actually very good and well made despite being free. It is updated constantly to battle Jagex's anti-bot updates. Also, the ban rate is pretty low if you use it wisely. I have botted for 12+ hours a day on multiple accounts and have yet to receive a ban. This is mostly because all of the stupid kids on RS think that no bots exist anymore and don't report people.

 

The 'new' bots are actually almost just as good as Nexus/old bots. RiD isn't actually new, it's been around for many years. It works fine if you follow their instructions & guidelines.

Simba isn't new either, however, it's just sparked up after the first bot nuke. Many of the free Simba scripts are extremely -- and I mean extremely -- useful. Take a look around www.villavu.com (Simba's website). Usually the script threads with the most comments are the best.

In my opinion, many of the free bots are just as good as paid bots. For example, many of Simba's scripts are just as good as RiD's bots. Also, there are limited RiD bots while there are a ton of free, public Simba scripts.

Not at all! Botting is still alive and going strong. The banrate isn't high at all!

Most of the free bots on Simba are actually fantastic! Look for the ones made by experienced members (SRL members+, it's a usertitle on their forums). Also, look for the scripts which have a lot of comments/good feedback. Be sensible and watch the script for the first few times you run it. After that, feel free to suicide.

Simba is #1 by far. My second pick would be RiD, as I don't use/trust EpicBot or anything other bot.
