Turtle Beach Mic Help!

Really not sure if this is the correct section, move if necessary.

Anyway, I bought a Turtle Beach XLC microphone headset for making YouTube videos. I can hear the sound fine the it won't pick up on the mic. I can hear crackling in the background like static, but it won't pick up any sound. It works on my brother's laptop so it isn't the headset itself, any idea what could be up?
The mute button is not one before anyone says anything like that, is it something to do with my computer's settings? Please help.

PLEASE READ- The mic runs only on one jack plug thing, might i need a thing that i plug the headphone thing into so it's connected to both the microphone and the headphone jacks?

Wrong section, and it sounds like your computer is the problem. Did any software/drivers come with it?

 

Sorry. I don't think so, It works fine on my brother's laptop with no drivers or anything installed. I can hear sound but the mic doesn't work, what could be the problem with my computer?

What are you trying to use it with? Skype? Or a voice recorder program?

 

Yeah, but it won't even pick up on windows.

EDIT- I mean pick up sound, it recognises it as a microhone. ^_^

 

Go under control panel then sounds and make sure the mic is enabled/working from there.

 

It says it's enabled, any chance someone can screenshare with me to help?

Anyways I ordered a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack adapter thing, will let you know how it goes, if not I will keep going until a solution is found.

Anybody have any idea if using the 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack adapter will working if i adapt the xbox cable and put that into my computer?

 

Have you tested out other mics on your computer and do they work? And why are you using a 2.5mm headset on a computer? Most are 3.5mm that I'm aware of.

You said the mic works on your brothers computer? If that's true, I could only imagine that the mic port on your computer is bad.

 

If you download teamviewer, I can try my best.

 

Have you tried adjusting the input volume levels. they may be too high or low causing weird static sounds. This problem happened to me with an old USB microphone.
